Sunday, May 15
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp included the Englishman on his list of substitutes for the Reds' final match of the campaign against West Bromwich Albion. He entered with 26 minutes remaining.
Klopp Excited by Ings Return
Wednesday, May 11
"What can I say?" Klopp said, per Alex Harris of the Daily Star. "Danny is healthy. He cannot be [match] fit in a champion way, not 100 per cent fit of course, but he's in a really good way. We will see what happens. For [Chelsea on Wednesday], absolutely not. Maybe, maybe [he can be in the] squad, if it makes sense—I'm not too sure."
Ings Must Be Eased into Action
Ings got off to a fairly encouraging start to life at Anfield, scoring three goals in his first eight games for the Reds—which saw him briefly break into the England setup—before his season was cut short by a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in October.
Klopp has had the likes of Christian Benteke, Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi to call upon, but it's easy to see why a player such as Ings is a major asset to this squad.
The striker runs the channels and is a sharp operator around the penalty area.
Indeed, per Harris, Klopp revealed he's looking forward to getting the 23-year-old back on the field: "Maybe it's not enough time for him, but next season, we'll have a lot of fun with him for sure."
Ings earned his move to Liverpool after impressing with Burnley, netting 11 times and assisting four goals for the Clarets in the Premier League in 2014-15.
After such a long time on the sidelines, it's understandable the club doesn't want to rush the England international back too quickly. Ings will be itching to get going again, especially under Klopp, but any player who has been out for such a stretch needs to take small steps when it comes to their recovery.
