Real Madrid Transfer News: Robert Lewandowski Comments, Denis Cheryshev Rumours

Rory MarsdenFeb 1, 2016

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has not ruled out a potential move to Real Madrid in the future following widespread rumours linking him with Los Blancos.

It was previously reported that, in the event Real could delay their imminent transfer ban, the Polish star would be their No. 1 target in the summer, per Marco Ruiz in Spanish outlet AS.

Per Spanish football writer Sid Lowe, Real look set to be able to sign players at the end of the season having delayed their FIFA sentence of a two-window transfer ban:

Lewandowski brushed aside the consistent links, but refused to comment on whether he would end his career at Bayern, leaving the door open for a potential move to the Bernabeu, per Ed Malyon in the Mirror:

"

As a professional footballer it’s difficult to say [if I will retire at Bayern]. There have been so many cases of players that have said that and then a new coach has come in they haven’t had the same prospects. Or they get an interesting offer. In any case, I feel very good at Bayern and I will give everything for the team while I am here. I am solely focused on Bayern Munich.

"

The reference to a new coach is an intriguing one as Carlo Ancelotti is set to take over at the Allianz Arena in the summer with Pep Guardiola confirmed for the Manchester City job, per Richard Tanner in the Express

It is no surprise that Real have been linked to Lewandowski. The 27-year-old is unquestionably one of the best strikers in the world and has scored 19 league goals in 18 appearances this season, per WhoScored.com.

Alongside Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, he would be part of one of the most lethal attacking units in the world if he moved to Madrid.

However, he will not be let go cheaply by Bayern, especially as he is contracted to the club until 2019.

Recent reports in French outlet L'Equipe (via Ruiz) indicated that Paris Saint-Germain were preparing a €100 million (£75.5 million) bid for Lewandowski, and Real will surely have to shell out that kind of money if they are to sign him in the summer.

But Real have never been put off by high demands in the past, and if Lewandowski is open to the idea of a move to the Bernabeu, Madrid's pursuit of him could be the transfer saga of the summer.

Elsewhere, Real winger Denis Cheryshev will spend the second half of the season on loan at Valencia, with the club confirming the deal with Los Blancos.

The Russian had previously been widely linked with Liverpool and Manchester United, but he will seemingly remain in La Liga, per AS (via the Manchester Evening NewsRob Dawson).

Cheryshev has never nailed down a first-team spot at the Bernabeu and his move to Valencia will be his third loan spell since his senior Madrid debut in 2012.
