The Forgotten Position and Bear
Looking through the Chicago Bears depth chart, I was looking at one of my favorite players on the team and I felt my heart sink. Fullback Jason McKie has been the heart and soul of blocking for the running backs of the Bears since 2003. The position he plays has become a lost wonder in the NFL. Most people think of the fullback as a blocker, but if you are looking for one of the most complete fullbacks in the game Jason McKie is the player you want. He was a proven runner in high school, and could've been a good running back in college, but was converted to fullback at Temple University.
Here are his stats from senior high school season and college:

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Gulf Breeze (Fla.) H.S.
Rushed for 1,281 yards and 16 TDs on 183 carries
Temple University
Started 26 games at FB at Temple (1998-2001) where he was a 2-time team captain, rushing for 700 yards and 8 TDs on 169 carries with 44 catches for 460 yards and 1 TD
He has been a top notch player throughout his NFL career.
Here are his NFL stats:
Dallas Cowboys (1 game) Chicago Bears (71 games)
Posted 63 career receptions for 351 yards and 3 TDs while adding 29 carries for 84 yards and 3 TDs in seven NFL seasons
Here are some interesting facts about Jason McKie:
Won prep wrestling class 5A 238-pound state championship as a senior. Achieved highest GPA among senior football players as a prep before earning Athletic Director’s Academic List honors at Temple as a junior. Third cousin, Aaron McKie, is a guard for the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies. Interned with Chicago Bears Broadcasting during the 2006 off-season, hosting CBTV and learning video editing techniques.
I wish Jason would get more credit on the team, but unfortunately for him the position is losing its appeal to people and is becoming non-existent. He is a great contributor on this Chicago Bears team as a blocker, runner, and pass catcher and hopefully we can keep him until he retires as a Chicago Bear.
Cherish the moments he is out on the field, because you won't see many class acts like him, and he might end up being the last fullback to be remembered for the Bears.
