Mitchell Pearce Simulates Dog Sex Act in Video, NRL Demands Investigation Report
The NRL has demanded an investigation into a recording which shows Sydney Roosters captain Mitchell Pearce simulating a sex act with a dog.
Footage was broadcast on the Nine News network’s A Current Affair program, appearing to show the inebriated State of Origin star getting turned down when trying to kiss a woman at the party, before grabbing hold of the animal and simulating an act of debauchery.
A Roosters statement confirmed Pearce has entered rehabilitation:
"The Sydney Roosters can confirm that Mitchell Pearce will be receiving treatment in an intensive rehabilitation facility for an extended period. Pearce has tonight departed for the overseas facility with his mother, Terri.
The Club’s concerns for Mitchell’s welfare remain paramount as he seeks treatment.
"
Pearce previously apologised for the incident and admitted he had "a problem with alcohol," per the Australian Associated Press (via the Guardian).
Here’s the clip in full. *Warning, contains some expletive language and distressing images*:
“I wanna f--k a dog, I don't even care anymore,” Pearce can reportedly be heard saying, per the linked piece. “I care. You've peed on my couch, you've peed on yourself. Get the f--k out,” was the host’s response, as the animal was taken away from the 26-year-old and he was ushered out of the venue.
Triple M NRL provided comments from coach Trent Robinson:
According to Adrian Proszenko of the Sydney Morning Herald, the NRL has requested an “urgent report” into the findings. Proszenko wrote in his piece that the Roosters star’s “career could be over” as a result of this clip.
“The integrity unit will work with the Roosters to ensure the matter is dealt with appropriately,” read part of a statement from the NRL on its official website.
There have been similarly undesirable incidents involving NRL players over the past few years.
Cronulla’s Todd Carney was de-registered after he was snapped urinating into his own mouth in 2014, although the playmaker is currently appealing the decision before the Supreme Court, per the Sydney Morning Herald.
Canberra centre Joel Monaghan also seemed set to face the sack after he was photographed indulging in a lewd act with a dog in 2010, but he resigned his position before that action was taken, per Andy Wilson of the Guardian.
Pearce is no stranger to controversy. In 2014 he was arrested outside a nightclub in Kings Cross, Sydney after an alleged incident, per Alexandra Back, Nick Ralston and Michael Carayannis of the Sydney Morning Herald.
The scrum-half was eventually fined $20,000 and banned for one match following the incident, per John Massoud of the Daily Telegraph.

Pearce has been a key player for the Roosters during his nine-year stint with the club, becoming the youngest player in NRL history to play 200 matches. His 2015 campaign was cut short due to injury, but he was still able to bag one try and 19 assists.
