Carroll Active vs. Hawks
Thursday, April 7
The Raptors announced Carroll will return against the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday.
Carroll told reporters he was "aiming" to get into the final two or three games, adding that he's still dealing with knee swelling but was told he can't do further damage to his knee.
"Carroll is encouraged by the progress he's making, said he feels much better after workouts now than he did pre-setback last month," TSN's Josh Lewenberg relayed on April 4.
Carroll's Return Provides Boost to Frontcourt
The Raptors made a significant investment in the 29-year-old forward last offseason, giving him $60 million over four years, per ESPN.com.
Carroll's first season in Toronto hasn't gone according to plan. His on-court returns have been somewhat underwhelming, while he had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in January. And that came a few months after he was dealing with plantar fasciitis.
Prior to the injury, he appeared in 23 games, averaging 11.7 points a night on 38.8 percent shooting, including 37.8 percent from three-point range.
Toronto head coach Dwane Casey moved DeRozan over to the 3 earlier in the year, with Norman Powell occupying DeRozan's previously held shooting guard spot.
The Raptors are currently in second place in the Eastern Conference, and Carroll's return couldn't come at a better time, with the playoffs right around the corner.
