Preview

In Flores' last fight, back in November, he scored a one-punch knockout over Alfred Tetteh in the second round. The shot that did the damage was a left hook to the body, and it forced the 37-year-old Ghanaian to crumble.

Here's a look at the entire fight, per PBC:

The punch was an impressive one, as it showed Flores' ability to hone in on an opponent's weakness. He had landed shots to Tetteh's right ribs earlier, and you could see Tetteh didn't take the punches well. Tetteh had also been stopped on a body shot in his last fight before losing to Flores.

One thing to watch in Flores' bout against Briones is his level of aggression. Will he be more free with his punches after having scored an impressive knockout, or will he remain patient enough to pick his spots?

Whatever his approach, Flores must be careful against Briones. The latter is an aggressive and powerful puncher who throws many shots with the intent to punish rather than score.

He comes forward and doesn't appear to be above slipping in an elbow or headbutt when the action gets into close quarters. His 20 KOs are proof of his formidable punching power, so Flores will have to be on guard to defend against a huge right hand. That looks to be Briones' go-to shot.

Facing an opponent like the 29-year-old Briones is essential in the development of any young and promising prospect. Flores appears to have a bright future, but guys like Briones have derailed many highly touted fighters. Will this fight be another step in Flores' ascension or an impediment he fails to overcome?

We'll find out Tuesday in San Antonio.
