Allen Discusses Reds Future

“That is something which has gone very quiet so I am not too sure really,” said Allen of his contract talks, per the Press Association (h/t Sky Sports). His current deal will expire in the summer of 2017.
The former Swansea City man has conceded he needs to be getting more minutes on the pitch too. “I have made only one league start this season and I want to play more," he said. "I think that is obvious for any player in that situation. From my point of view it is about knuckling down, doing my job and giving my best, which I always do.”
Allen performed well in the Reds’ 1-0 League Cup semi-final triumph over Stoke City on Tuesday, setting up Jordon Ibe’s winning goal in the game.
The midfielder was one of the first signings made by former manager Brendan Rodgers in 2012 but gradually fell out of favour during the Northern Irishman's tenure. Now, with Jurgen Klopp at the helm, it doesn’t seem as though Allen is in the first-team mix, with the likes of James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Emre Can and Lucas Leiva all ahead of him in the pecking order.
Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph feels as though, despite his critics, Allen is a useful player:
Indeed, with Wales set to play at the European Championship this summer, the midfielder will want to ensure he’s in great condition for the tournament. Sitting on the bench for Liverpool for the rest of the season is unlikely to aid that process.
Chances are Allen will get games in the cup competitions, with the Reds still involved in three. That means Klopp would be unlikely to sanction a midseason sale, but if contract talks remain at an impasse, the 25-year-old would surely go in search of a new challenge.
