Henderson Optimistic on Europa League Final Spot
Tuesday, May 10
"I'm doing everything I can to get back fit as quickly as possible," he told Sky Sports.
"I've had a good week so far, so hopefully I can have another good week and see where I am at the end of that. I'm being very positive, I'm working very hard and hopefully it's sooner rather than later.
"That [Europa League final] would be the main priority for me. It would be huge just to be involved and I'd love to be a part of that if I could."
Injuries Nothing New for Liverpool Leader
Since Klopp took over at Anfield in October, Henderson has suffered a number of injuries, hardly featuring during the early weeks of the German’s tenure.
At his best, Henderson is an excellent man to have around this Liverpool squad. His energy is infectious, as is his tenacity in the tackle and willingness to drive the team forward. Additionally, as the team’s captain, the former Sunderland man leads by example, often giving the Reds a nasty streak in midfield that every side requires.
But Liverpool have become accustomed to coping without their captain, such is his poor fortune when it comes to injuries.
Emre Can and James Milner have fashioned a powerful midfield combination in Henderson's absence and will likely start in the Europa League final should he fail to find form and fitness.
