Notre Dame Fighting Irish wide receiver Will Fuller announced Sunday he will declare for the 2016 NFL draft.

Bleacher Report's Mike Monaco passed along an official statement from the junior wideout on his decision to go pro:

Fuller had a magnificent 2015 campaign with 20.3 yards per catch on 62 receptions and 14 touchdowns. He finished his career with a six-catch, 113-yard performance in Notre Dame's 44-28 loss to Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl.

After stating in November he'd return for his senior season, the 21-year-old had a change of heart.

Irish Illustrated's Tim Prister highlighted how much Fuller will be missed in South Bend:

Evident in his healthy yards per catch, Fuller is a lethal deep threat who tore up opposing secondaries all season long. Speaking of the Buckeyes, he brings to mind former OSU standout Devin Smith, who was a 2015 second-round pick of the New York Jets.

Along with the unique long speed and special ball skills as attributes Fuller shares with Smith, he also lacks thickness to his frame and may be vulnerable to the increased physicality of the NFL.

Teams will be tantalized by Fuller's upside, which figures to be even greater if he can bulk up a little bit more from his listed weight of 184 lbs. He's also listed at 6'0", but whatever he lacks in height as an outside receiver he makes up for with his knack for high-pointing the ball.

Pro Football Focus noted how Fuller entered the Fiesta Bowl with 10 drops on the season, suggesting he has room to improve in that area.

In terms of raw talent, there aren't many more attractive options in the 2016 NFL draft class. It may be too much to ask of him to be an instant-impact player as a rookie, though.

Fuller would be best served going to a team with an established strong-armed QB who could take advantage of his big-play prowess. Most important is for the gifted playmaker to continue working on the nuances of the position so he can become more than a go-route guy in the next phase of his career.
