Arsenal Transfer News: Lorenzo Insigne, Jorginho, Dries Mertens, Latest Rumours
Arsenal have been dealt a triple blow in their reported pursuit of Napoli trio Lorenzo Insigne, Jorginho and Dries Mertens, with all three set to sign new deals with the Serie A club.
According to Calcio Mercato's Giovanni Scotto, Insigne, Jorginho and Mertens have all been on the Gunners' transfer radar but are now set to commit their futures to Napoli.

Jorginho and Mertens are both reportedly in talks to sign two-year extensions up to 2020, while Insigne is already contracted until 2019 and will enter renewal discussions before the end of the 2015-16 season.
Insigne, 24, would theoretically be a fine addition at Arsenal given his ability to play either on the left flank—where he could deputise for Alexis Sanchez—or through the middle.
However, the Naples-born forward never seemed a realistic target for Arsenal given his obvious commitment to Napoli, as previously confirmed by his agent, Antonio Ottaiano, per Radio CRC (via Liam Corless in the Mirror):
"His contract expires in 2019 and Insigne has repeatedly said that he wants to stay at Napoli for life. If all the prerequisites are in place for it to happen, the engagement will become a marriage. The club believes in Lorenzo, they consider him crucial to the future of Napoli. The big clubs saw Lorenzo as an exciting prospect at first, now they’re probably casting admiring glances at him. They’ll have to give up though, Lorenzo is a Napoli player until 2019, and not only is he happy, he wants to win in a blue shirt.
"
Mertens is a similarly attractive attacking target, with the Belgian able to play across the front three and provide both terrific link-up play and a good eye for goal, as can be seen below:
At 28 years old, though, he would not have represented a good long-term buy for manager Arsene Wenger and is clearly now eager to commit himself further at Napoli.
Arguably the biggest blow for Arsenal is the news of Jorginho's imminent contract renewal at Napoli.
The Brazilian-born Italian is a highly accomplished defensive midfielder, a position in which Arsenal are short on adequate cover and competition for the currently injured Francis Coquelin.
Jorginho, 24, could be an excellent long-term partner for the Frenchman at the Emirates, but the Gunners seemingly now will need to look elsewhere for added strength in the deep-lying midfield department.
Their current options are limited and Mathieu Flamini is reportedly set to depart the club at the end of 2015-16 when his contract expires, per John Cross in the Mirror.
Flamini has been a dedicated and valuable asset for Wenger in two separate spells with the club, and he has a remarkable record at the Emirates, per BBC Radio 5live:
However, at 31 years old he is nearing the end of his career, and his starting opportunities have become limited following the emergence of Coquelin.
With Wenger surely set to bring in another young defensive midfielder either in January or the summer, it is understandable that Flamini should be considering looking elsewhere for more regular game time.
