Carlo Ancelotti Comments on Jose Mourinho's Sacking, Managing Bayern Munich
Former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has commented on Jose Mourinho's dismissal by the Premier League champions, and he said a lack of player motivation was the reason for the self-proclaimed Special One's sacking.
Federico Casotti of Goal.com quoted the Italian, who will succeed Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich next season, saying Mourinho paid the price for not keeping his superstars focused after Chelsea romped to the Premier League title in 2014/15:
"That is the most difficult job for a coach because within a group, both one that is doing well and one that is doing badly, there are always problems to resolve.
"
When things are going well, there is a risk of relaxation; when things are going badly, obviously there is a loss of confidence.
The coach must always keep a good balance in that sense, lifting the confidence levels particularly when things don't seem to be working.
It's a little of this that Mourinho paid for, the fact that the team had not started like last year, when they had a tremendous desire to do well after a bad year.
This year it was exactly the opposite; he paid for the lack of motivation among the players.

Ancelotti also commented about his future move to Der FCB, as he prepares for the switch to Bavaria and the Bundesliga, per Casotti. The coach said he is relaxed about his fresh challenge in Germany:
"Nothing worries me. I'm going to have a new and interesting experience and I'm certainly happy to discover a new country, rich in stimuli.
"
The thing that has enriched me most in these past few years has without doubt been getting to know different cultures; the customs in various countries.
I believe that it will be this kind of experience in Germany; very interesting. Learning German? I've already started. I can confirm that it's not easy!

The Italian will take over from current manager Guardiola after the Spaniard decided he will move on from the Allianz Arena, per the club (via BBC Sport).
It will be the first time Ancelotti has coached in Germany after stints in Spain and England, as well as his homeland, Italy.
Guardiola has been hugely successful during his spell at Bayern and will be a difficult act to follow, as he attempts to win his third league title in a row.
The Spaniard's team have won 15 of their 17 games this term in the Bundesliga, and they appear unstoppable on the domestic front.
Sky Sports compared the records of the two managers:
The Telegraph's Paul Hayward commented on Ancelotti's ability to handle star players and his understanding of how to maintain power within his squad environment:
Chelsea's players appeared to lack energy during Mourinho's final months in charge, and Ancelotti's assertions about motivational issues resonate.
The Blues gave Mourinho the same treatment the Italian received when he was shown the door at Stamford Bridge, as owner Roman Abramovich fails to show confidence in managers with tremendous records.
Ancelotti is a strong option for Bayern, and he has the knowledge to hit the ground running in Germany.
He has the experience needed to run one of the planet's legendary clubs, and he is Bayern's best possibility of finding a successful replacement for Guardiola.
