Real Madrid Transfer News: Latest Toni Kroos, James Rodriguez and Isco Rumours

Rob BlanchetteDec 20, 2015

Real Madrid might lose three of their Galacticos in the near future, as Toni Kroos, James Rodriguez and Isco have "become available," according to latest reports.

Spanish outlet Fichajes (h/t George Bellshaw of Metro) claimed a "mass exodus" is on the cards at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal all lying in wait. The midfielders are "all ready to leave the club" after becoming despondent under manager Rafael Benitez.

James is also being pursued by Paris Saint-Germain, but Chelsea believe a deal involving the sale of Eden Hazard to Los Blancos could give them the advantage, per Bellshaw.

Fichajes (h/t Mark Brus of Metro) also claimed the Colombian superstar is hugely admired by United manager Louis van Gaal and that United will bid for the player. James could be interested in a move to the Red Devils if LvG makes him the "cornerstone" of United's starting XI.

Ed Malyon of the Daily Mirror said James and Benitez's relationship is "under the spotlight" as the former Liverpool manager looks to find a way of accommodating all of his Galactico contingent, writing:

"

There are a few different ways to read the ongoing situation between the €80 million man [James Rodriguez] and his manager.

One is that James is a victim of [Florentino] Perez’s desperation to make Gareth Bale the centre-piece of this Real Madrid team. Much of Benitez’s task is to get the best out of the Welshman and, often that has seen Rodriguez left on the sidelines.

Another is that the 24-year-old reportedly returned to the club overweight (albeit supposedly just 2kg) and Benitez has been punishing him for it by leaving him out of the side and the relationship has since "broken".

"

Van Gaal could also turn to former United target Kroos, who joined Real from Bayern Munich in 2014.

According to Frederic Hermel on Spanish TV show El Chiringuito (h/t Malyon), the Germany international has told his agent, Volker Struth, to construct a path away from the Spanish capital. United had a "deal in principle" in place to capture Kroos from Munich, per Malyon. However, the player is now frustrated and "tired of life" at Los Merengues.

If James and Kroos depart, Isco could complete the triple blow for Madrid, as the Spaniard has reportedly "fallen out" with Benitez, paving the way for a transfer to Arsenal.

Here is a video showing why the Gunners are attracted to the player:

All three were expected to lead the Madrid midfield for many years to come, but the sacking of former boss Carlo Ancelotti in May 2015 has created a fault line at the club.

James' playing time has evaporated under the new regime, and it is no surprise he is unhappy with a spot on the bench. Don Balon (h/t Brus) recently said the playmaker is prepared to leave Madrid in the near future, and his agent, Jorge Mendes, is already planning an escape route to the Premier League, with Manchester City also keen on his signing.

Kroos has continued to feature for Madrid this season, but his performance level has sunk in recent months. The 25-year-old has made 18 appearances in La Liga and the Champions League combined this term, providing four assists, according to WhoScored.com.

The exits of Kroos, James and Isco would leave a mammoth hole in president Florentino Perez's club, and a spending spree of huge proportions would be needed as a matter of urgency.

Perez has mismanaged the club during the transition between Ancelotti and Benitez, losing one of world football's greatest coaches in favour of a managerial pragmatist.

The flair of the three aforementioned players will likely not be truly appreciated by the new coach, and his defensive philosophy is compromised by having to fit Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale into his side.
