Shields Active vs. Cardinals

Saturday, Jan. 16

Shields will play against the Arizona Cardinals in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs, per Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Latest on Shields' Practice Status

Friday, Jan. 15

The Packers announced, per Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official website, Shields was limited in Friday's practice session.

Shields Adds Boost to Packers Secondary

Rookie Damarious Randall shifted over to cover superstar wide receiver Dez Bryant after Shields exited in Week 14, so getting Shields back allows the Packers to get back to their normal defensive lineup.

Playing without Shields in a must-win game would have been a difficult blow for the Packers. He was a 2014 Pro Bowler, but he already had as many interceptions this year (three) and more passes defended (13 to nine) than last season prior to his injury, per ESPN.com.

What’s more, Shields has been in the league since 2010 and adds some experience to a secondary that relies on Randall and 2012 draft pick Casey Hayward.
