Mark BollonsDec 11, 2015

Growing up in Argentina, there were several players whom striker Sergio Aguero could look up to.

It therefore comes as a bit of a surprise that the Manchester City hitman had a particular soft spot for Liverpool's Michael Owen.

In an interview with Match of the Day magazine, the 27-year-old revealed it was the England striker he could relate to growing up in Buenos Aires.

He said, per Daily Mail:

"

I always liked the Premier League, as a kid. I used to like Liverpool because I liked Michael Owen.

He was pretty small so I used to identify with him when I was seven or eight.

Playing in the Premier League was always something that I'd wanted to do.

"

During his time at Liverpool, Owen scored 179 goals in 306 games. He also scored a special individual strike for England against Argentina at the 1998 World Cup in France.

Maybe Aguero might have seen things differently if England had knocked out Argentina and not the other way around.
