Skiles Comments on Gordon's Playing Status
Wednesday, Dec. 9
Magic head coach Scott Skiles said he expects Gordon to play in tonight's game, per Joshua Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel.
Gordon Adds to Magic Frontcourt Depth
Injuries have been the defining story for Gordon since the Magic made him the fourth overall pick in 2014. He appeared in just 47 games as a rookie because of an assortment of ailments, not including an offseason incident with his brother in which he suffered a fractured jaw.
He's looked much more comfortable off the bench so far, averaging 7.7 points and shooting nearly 47 percent from the floor to go along with 4.9 rebounds in just 19 minutes per game.
The Magic also have depth at power forward to withstand a short absence by Gordon. Channing Frye can play the 4 or 5, and Andrew Nicholson is having the best season of his career with 8.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.
Gordon has the highest upside of any Magic power forward, so getting him back at full strength is essential if the team wants to make a real playoff push.
