England Man Searching for Consistency
Sturridge made his first start of the season for the club in the Dec. 2 League Cup demolition of Southampton following a long spell on the sidelines. He then played almost 30 minutes in the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle four days later.
The 26-year-old looked fantastic against the Saints, celebrating his return with a brace and leading the Reds forward line in arguably their best performance of the season.
His latest absence left Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino to lead the attack. The former has struggled since making the move to Anfield from Aston Villa during the summer, and he lacks Sturridge's all-round qualities. Firmino, truthfully, is not a striker.
Per Transfermarkt, Sturridge's recent injury history is the stuff of nightmares, as the classy striker barely featured last season and has been sidelined with multiple issues during this campaign.
