Real Madrid Transfer News: Robert Lewandowski Plan Hatched, Latest Rumours
Real Madrid will turn to Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, as the futures of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema remain uncertain at the Bernabeu.
Spanish newspaper AS (h/t ESPN FC) claimed president Florentino Perez has hatched "Operation Lewandowski," as he looks to maintain the status quo in the Spanish capital.
The daily shared their front cover on social media:

AS claimed the player's agent, Cezary Kucharski, was spotted at Los Blancos' 4-1 win against Getafe on Saturday after being invited by club officials to the La Liga match. Lewandowski is "said to look upon a move to Madrid favourably," and he could be tempted to leave Germany by Perez.
It was also reported (h/t Goal) that the striker was disappointed not to be nominated for the Ballon d'Or, and believes a switch to the Bernabeu could improve his chances of winning the famed award, prompting discussions between Kucharski and Madrid. Bayern are reportedly trying to renegotiate Lewandowski's deal—which ends in 2019—making him the "highest paid player in the club's history."

The Bundesliga champions recently shared a video of the Poland international displaying his skills in training for Bayern, showing why he is currently prized by his suitors:
The Champions League official Twitter account also compared the striker to an icon of the Spanish game, proving why Los Merengues want the player:
According to German newspaper Bild (via Alex Richards of the Irish Mirror), Lewandowski has fallen out with Dutch superstar Arjen Robben, and a rift has developed between the pair at the Allianz Arena. Their relationship has triggered unrest at the Bavarian club, and it could become a factor when the Pole decides whether to accept Madrid's advances.
The 27-year-old striker has continued his startling form this term and has scored 14 goals in as many Bundesliga appearances, according to WhoScored.com.

He has clearly proved himself to be one of European football's primary predators in front of goal and would give Real the striker they need if Ronaldo departs next summer, per David Anderson of the Mirror.
Bleacher Report's Marcus Speller and Dean Jones recently speculated Perez will seek to cash in on the Portuguese icon at the end of the season, and explained how politics play a vital part in the president's thinking:
Despite Ronaldo's reputation as a wide player, he is the No. 9 at Madrid in terms of goalscoring, and it is this position that will need to be addressed by Perez.
Lewandowski has plundered the goals for both Bayern and Borussia Dortmund in Germany, but more importantly, he is a proven talent in the Champions League.
Madrid are always motivated to add to their haul of Champions League trophies, and Lewandowski would provide the goals that Los Blancos need to do this.
The club have underperformed in La Liga since the departure of former boss Carlo Ancelotti, and the capture of the Pole would give manager Rafael Benitez the chance to build a new team around his more favoured tactical vision.
