Barcelona Transfer News: Latest on Paul Pogba and Paulo Dybala Rumours

Rory MarsdenDec 6, 2015

Barcelona are reportedly leading the race to sign Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, despite rumoured interest in the Frenchman from Manchester United.

The Red Devils have long been linked with their former player, with speculation increasing recently when Pogba was spotted in Manchester, per Rob Dawson in the Manchester Evening News.

However, Barca have now reportedly been confirmed as the front-runners to sign the 22-year-old next summer, despite Pogba proclaiming his "love" for Manchester, per Italian outlet  Tutto Mercato Web (via Squawka's Ashley Hover).

The report indicates that Juve want €100 million (£72 million) for their star man, a huge transfer fee but one that is arguably worth Barca shelling out.

Despite his youth, Pogba is already rated as one of the world's best players and could be a major asset at the Camp Nou for the best part of the next decade.

Italian football expert Paolo Bandini described him on ESPN FC as arguably "the best box-to-box midfielder on the planet."

The prospect of him playing alongside Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar—the best attacking trio on the planet—is mouthwatering.

Indeed, Barcelona will surely go all-out to sign Pogba, as he could almost guarantee their continued position at the top of the European game for years to come—Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe ranks the Catalans as the continent's best team:

While £72 million is a lot of money to spend on one player, Pogba has proved that he is worth it, and he could turn out to be decent value if he inspires Barca to further La Liga and Champions League titles.

According to Radio Sportiva (via Stefan Coerts on Goal.com), Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, has confirmed that the midfielder will not leave Turin in January.

The summer of 2016 seems a more likely time for him to move on, though, and with Barca leading the race to sign him, he will surely end up at the Camp Nou.

Meanwhile, Barca are reportedly eyeing a move for another Juve player: 22-year-old striker Paulo Dybala.

According to James Gray in the Express, the La Liga giants are set to beat Manchester United and Arsenal to the signing of Dybala, who has "previously admitted it would be difficult to turn down any potential move."

However, Dybala only signed for Juventus on a five-year deal in June for £23.4 million and has excelled himself in the 2015-16 campaign, netting seven goals in 14 Serie A appearances, per WhoScored.com.

While he would be another brilliant young addition to the Barca squad, it seems unlikely that Juventus will be willing to sell him any time soon.
