Real Madrid Transfer News: Latest Robert Lewandowski, Cristiano Ronaldo Rumours

James DudkoDec 3, 2015

Real Madrid have a great chance to finally sign Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski, according to reports. Los Blancos see the Polish striker as a potential replacement for discontented Cristiano Ronaldo, having already tried to sign him twice.

Those attempts failed, but there are now reasons to believe Madrid can at last get their man, according to AS.com. Citing sources in Poland, the report states how Lewandowski's agent, Cezary Kucharski, is adamant his client will eventually seal a big move away from the Bundesliga.

Lewandowski is also said to be keen on the financial rewards and prestige available in Spain's top flight:

No matter what happens, 'Lewy’s' career will not end at Bayern Munich, they say; Secondly, after the Balón d’Ór voting, the on-fire striker has realized that la Liga is the most popular platform on the planet to play the game. They say he watches Spanish football on television and likes the way the game is played over here. Third of all, naturally, is the money. They’ll have to offer Bayern around 100 million euros, with yearly wage of 24 million, 12 million take-home pay.

"

It's an investment Los Merengues will deem worth making if it means landing an attacker as gifted as Lewandowski, one good enough to replace their current forward talisman.

Ronaldo no longer looks comfortable in a Madrid shirt.

Yet, despite Lewandowski's apparent willingness to move, along with Madrid's fondness for the player, any deal won't be as clear cut as it appears. AS quotes Bayern president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge downplaying any sale, speaking to a group of Polish reporters: “Florentino Perez is my friend and he knows well that we will not sell Lewandowski to Real. We are not a bank, we want to have a powerful, winning team and Robert is crucial for us”.

But the feeling still exists that Lewandowski and Kucharski will have the final say. The latter believes the former Borussia Dortmund man is the "next Galactico who will bring star quality and success back to the Santiago Bernabeu."

Madrid could well need another star name as soon as next summer. Ronaldo's future in Spain's capital city continues to look bleak.

Bleacher Report's Marcus Speller and Dean Jones recently speculated club president Florentino Perez will seek to cash in on the Portuguese powerhouse at the end of the season:

Spanish publication El Confidencial (h/t MailOnline's Rik Sharma) reported Ronaldo's animosity toward new manager Rafa Benitez as a major factor behind his current malaise.

Meanwhile, French source Le Parisien (h/t Uche Amako of the Daily Express) claims Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain are already making room for Ronaldo by ridding themselves of Swedish forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

In Lewandowski, Madrid would certainly get a more generous link player than Ronaldo. The clever Pole is at his best when using deft flicks and touches to release supporting strikers and attacking midfield players in space.

There are plenty of candidates in Madrid's ranks to flourish alongside Lewandowski. The likes of James Rodriguez and Gareth Bale would definitely benefit from Lewandowski's knack for involving others.

A more direct presence through the middle, particularly one also deadly in the air, would be an upgrade over Madrid's current options. Ronaldo has not looked comfortable whenever Benitez had played him centrally, while Frenchman Karim Benzema too often flatters to deceive.

Lewandowski would become what Ronaldo used to be. Namely, the centrepiece of the team.

In a system geared to his skill as a link player and prolific scorer, Lewandowski would dominate La Liga and help force Los Blancos out of the shadow of hated enemy Barcelona.
