WWE TLC 2015: Feuds That Will Increase Excitement for Event

James MoffatDec 1, 2015

The build to WWE Tables, Ladders & Chairs 2015 is moving along fast and furious, as the Nov. 30 episode of Raw proved.

WWE fans are starting to see the potential direction of the pay-per-view card, as Rusev and Ryback tangled, Dolph Ziggler and Tyler Breeze continued their feud and tag team champions The New Day were officially entered into a Triple Threat match for their belts against The Lucha Dragons and The Usos.

It's a matter of opinion whether those matches move the needle in terms of excitement, but there are a number of feuds that will make the WWE Universe take notice of Dec. 13's pay-per-view in Boston.

Roman Reigns vs. Sheamus (WWE World Heavyweight Championship)

Midway through Nov. 30's episode of Raw, Reigns vs. Sheamus at WWE TLC 2015 seemed likely to disappoint, no matter the end result. However, following his impromptu title match with Reigns, Sheamus introduced us to The League of Nations.

This storyline has the ability to pique fans' interest, if done properly. It's a move that was welcomed by most WWE fans during the broadcast:

There has always been strength in numbers. The Wyatt Family, The Shield and The Authority are all proof of that in recent years. Having four solid Superstars band together, fighting to keep their place among the elite, is a good move.

Sheamus has been poorly booked since returning from injury in March, yet he is on the cusp of being WWE champion heading into WrestleMania season. He needs to be made as strong as possible for a feud with Reigns to work.

Having some muscle behind him—especially a group not closely tied to The Authority—is a strong play by WWE Creative. Rusev, King Barrett and Alberto Del Rio haven't moved the needle as individuals, but as a stable they could make noise on the roster.

The Dudley Boyz vs. The Wyatt Family

The Dudleys and The Wyatts is another feud that did little to spark interest until recently. With Bray Wyatt and his flock licking its wounds following Survivor Series, WWE needed something to help keep the family looking strong. With Bubba Ray and D-Von no longer in the tag title picture, they are free to take on this feud.

On the surface, there isn't a natural connection between the groups, but both are similar in style and substance. The Wyatts and Dudleys are brawlers who know how to elicit crowd response. Pairing a veteran group against mostly green workers can only help to elevate guys like Luke Harper, Erick Rowan and Braun Strowman.

With the addition of ECW Superstar Tommy Dreamer, this feud immediately gets elevated to "exciting," not because Dreamer is a stellar ring worker, but because WWE is pulling no punches: This will be a knock-down, drag-out brawl between heavy hitters.

It's the type of feud that works perfectly for the WWE TLC concept. The only question is whether the ECW alums will add a fourth member to make this a fair fight. Could Rob Van Dam, who has suggested a return to WWE, come back?

Or might WWE turn to someone like Rhyno, a strongman who could match up with The Wyatt Family's size and is currently in the employ of WWE NXT? There are plenty of possibilities, which makes this feud worth the watch at WWE TLC 2015.

Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens (WWE Intercontinental Championship)

Saving the best for last, Ambrose vs. Owens is the match many in the Internet Wrestling Community are waiting to see at WWE TLC 2015.

There's already been plenty written about it on Bleacher Report and elsewhere, but in short: Both are tremendous workers, both are over with the crowds and they know how to carry a feud. It's a perfect storm for WWE, one that it can't possibly mess up, right?

Even keeping Owens off of WWE programming on Monday was a great move, as the Ambrose-Owens story would have gotten lost in the shuffle with Reigns and Sheamus taking center stage for most of the night.

The only questions for this feud are: 1) In the short term, will WWE put Ambrose and Owens in a stipulation match and risk two of its biggest assets getting injured while much of the roster is off TV, and 2) Does WWE give the fans what they want and allow Ambrose and Owens to continue their feud through WrestleMania season?

This is a feud WWE Creative should just steer clear of and let two of the company's best take care of business on their own. It might be the best present WWE could give its fans this holiday season.
