Barcelona Reportedly Looking for Camp Nou Sponsorship Deal

Christopher SimpsonNov 30, 2015

Barcelona is reportedly targeting a lucrative new sponsorship deal for the Camp Nou "as soon as possible"—one that would see a "surname" added to the stadium by a prospective partner.

That's according to Sport's Toni Frieros, who reports the club is trying to fast-track a deal to go through in December and has "chosen" to work with American company Van Wagner to help with the naming rights, whose previous clients include the New York Jets, the New York Giants and Arsenal.

Although the partnership with Van Wagner is not yet officially sealed, the report notes the club is aiming to tie up the sponsorship deal in December ahead of 2016's General Assembly.

Using estimates from "people close to the matter" and based on other similar deals, it's suggested the Catalan giants could stand to rake in €20 million per season, and the agreement could last two or three decades.

The deal may not prove popular with fans given the historic nature of the stadium. However, the revenue generated will help Barcelona to fund its ultimate goal—a "new Camp Nou and Espai Barca" stadium and sports facility.
