Power Ranking the Sports Personality of the Year Nominees
On Monday night, the dozen contenders for the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year title were named.
2014 winner Lewis Hamilton is in the shortlist once again, as is Davis Cup winner Andy Murray and heptathlete Jessica Ennis-Hill.
As usual, the finalists come from a variety of sporting backgrounds, but there is no room on the list for a number of high-profile male footballers, including Gareth Bale, Jamie Vardy and Wayne Rooney.
We've taken a look through the final 12 to come up with our SPOTY power rankings.
The winner will be announced in Belfast on December 20.
12. Max Whitlock
1 of 12
The first British man ever to win a World Gymnastics Championship gold medal, Max Whitlock claimed the pommel horse crown in Scotland in October.
He was part of the first Great Britain team to win a medal in the all-around team competition at the championships and also claimed a silver medal in the floor exercise.
11. Adam Peaty
2 of 12
Adam Peaty broke the championship record in the 100m breaststroke—twice—at the World Aquatic Championships in Russia on his way to winning titles in the 50m, 100m and 4x100m mixed relay.
The 20-year-old returned from Russia as the first British swimmer to win three gold medals at a single world championships.
10. Lizzie Armitstead
3 of 12
One of two cyclists on the shortlist, Lizzie Armistead secured her first world road title in Virginia in September.
She is already seen as one of Great Britain's better medal hopes at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
9. Greg Rutherford
4 of 12
Long jumper Greg Rutherford's gold medal in Beijing means he holds Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth titles simultaneously.
Turns out the 28-year-old track and field athlete isn't too confident of going all the way. He tweeted shortly after his nomination: "I'll be honest, I assumed only my mum would vote for me."
8. Chris Froome
5 of 12
In July, 30-year-old Chris Froome won the Tour de France for the second time.
His year was interrupted by an injury during the Vuelta a Espana, but he returned to take part in the season-ending Saitama Criterium.
7. Lucy Bronze
6 of 12
While some high-profile footballers might not have made the cut, Lucy Bronze deserves her nomination thanks to her starring role as England finished third at the Women's World Cup in Canada in July.
Her long-range goal against Norway booked a quarter-final date against the hosts, where she also scored what turned out to be the winner.
England were knocked out in the final four in heartbreaking fashion against Japan but rallied to defeat Germany 1-0 in the match for third place.
6. Kevin Sinfield
7 of 12
Leeds Rhinos captain Kevin Sinfield bowed out of rugby league in style, winning the Super League for the seventh time with a win over Wigan.
He is the first player from the code to be nominated for the SPOTY award and leaves league as the club and competition's leading point scorer.
His sport has been under-represented in previous years, which could mobilise rugby league fans to vote, so we're expecting a strong showing from Sinfield.
5. Mo Farah
8 of 12
Mo Farah repeated his gold medal double at the World Championships in Beijing to win an unprecedented "triple double" of 5,000m and 10,000m titles.
For good measure, he also broke the European half-marathon and world indoor two-mile records in 2015.
4. Andy Murray
9 of 12
Wimbledon 2013 champion Andy Murray reached the final of the Australian Open, the semi-finals at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon before a disappointing fourth-round exit at the US Open.
His inclusion in the shortlist is spearheaded by his heroics last weekend with Great Britain to lift the Davis Cup.
3. Tyson Fury
10 of 12
Fury is front and centre in Britons' minds after his upset win over Wladimir Klitschko on Saturday to be named world heavyweight champion.
What might work against the Manchester-born boxer is public distaste after some controversial comments made earlier this month.
Thankfully for him, his musical performances wont be factored in...
2. Lewis Hamilton
11 of 12
Last year's SPOTY champion Hamilton has continued his dominance of the Formula One circuit, winning his second world title in a row.
He bossed the Formula One season and secured the crown in Austin with three races to go.
A bit of voter fatigue might set in for the Mercedes driver, which is why we've not picked him as our #1...
1. Jessica Ennis-Hill
12 of 12
Heptathlete Jessica Ennis-Hill won the World Championships in August, a matter of months after returning following the birth of her first child.
Ennis-Hill is favourite with the bookmakers to win the SPOTY title for the first time.
