Spurs Ready to Double Kane Wages

Sunday, November 29

North London giants Tottenham Hotspur will attempt to divert Kane's attention away from the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea by doubling his wages, according to Goal's Greg Stobart.

Coach Mauricio Pochettino's side aren't in any immediate danger of losing their frontman considering his current £35,000-a-week deal doesn't expire until the summer of 2020.

However, it's alleged Spurs will offer the player a substantial leap in earnings (£70,000 a week) as they "are keen to reward the 22-year-old with a contract that reflects his importance to the side," thus keeping his focus at White Hart Lane.

One can see why Tottenham value their academy product so highly, with Squawka Dave recently pointing the player out as the most heavily involved Premier League goal presence of the year:

The attacker has bagged eight goals in 14 league appearances this season, recovering magnificently from a record of one strike in his first nine games to bag seven in his last five matches.

Goal's Jay Jaffa recently used that form as cause to insist Kane is far from a "one-season wonder," as some circles suggested following his sluggish start to the season:

Stobart mentioned the new deal would only represent a one-year contract extension, running until the summer of 2021, but the massive jump in wages is the most significant factor in whether Kane agrees.

Stobart added that while Manchester United were ready to splash £50 million on Kane over the summer, the capital club are prepared to reject similar advances in future and hang on to their England international.
