Biggest Winners and Losers in World Rugby for Weekend of December 4-6
It's been a mixed week for English rugby, and new coach Eddie Jones has plenty to contemplate following a nonstop weekend of action in the Aviva Premiership.
On the positive side of things, numerous would-be internationals are impressing the England boss in their bid to win a place in the Six Nations squad, but there's also harrowing news on the injury front.
England fans can also rejoice in the news that several stars look poised to renew their deals in the Premiership and reject foreign interest.
We discuss all that and more as we break down the biggest winners and losers in rugby this weekend.
Winner: England's Loyal Troops

The allure of playing overseas has seen some of England's stars take their leave of the Premiership in recent years, but Manu Tuilagi, Jamie George and Danny Care seem set to remain in their native land for the long haul.
The Telegraph's Mick Cleary confirmed on Friday that George and Care had penned new deals with Saracens and Harlequins, respectively, while Tuilagi is expected to tie his loyalties down at Leicester Tigers.
All three players could look to play a prominent part in England's Six Nations campaign, with hooker George in particular hoping to emerge after finding World Cup chances limited, as did scrum-half Care.
Leicester centre Tuilagi failed to even make the squad after he was charged with assaulting a police officer in May, per the Guardian's Robert Kitson. There is hope for a fresh start under Jones.
Loser: Henry Slade
2 of 5
After failing to see many chances at the World Cup, Exeter Chiefs star Henry Slade did rub some salt in England's wound by enjoying an impressive start to his club's 2015-16 campaign.
However, his season could be over all too soon after BBC Sport reported he'd suffered a "suspected broken leg" in Saturday's 41-27 win over Wasps. Coach Rob Baxter was quoted, declining to go into major detail on the blow:
"Henry has an injury to the lower part of his right leg and it is envisaged he will be operated on today [Sunday]. We have set no timescale on how long he will be sidelined for."
There were many who thought Slade deserved his chance in the England XV ahead of Sam Burgess and even Brad Barritt, but his 2016 looks likely to be badly affected by this development.
Winner: Thomas "The Tank" Waldrom
3 of 5
While one Chiefs talent is down in the dumps following Saturday's romp past Wasps, No. 8 Thomas Waldrom is in quite the opposite mood after his hat-trick of tries pushed Exeter to the top of the Premiership table.
Paul Williams of Rugby World labelled the forward's performance as "amazing," and after finishing last season with a massive 16 tries to his name, the 32-year-old is back in the saddle looking for more.
His mighty haul helped push the Chiefs two points clear at the Premiership summit on Saturday, only for Sarries to claw back their lead after defeating Newcastle Falcons on Sunday.
Loser: Donncha O'Callaghan

Worcester Warriors are already on their way to improving the fortunes at Sixways Stadium, but Week 6 of the 2015-16 Premiership season was one to forget for England newcomer Donncha O'Callaghan.
After his club went in at the break with a 17-7 lead over Leicester, the former Munster and Ireland lock was shown a red card in the 42nd minute for a second offence following a driving maul.
Worcester went on to lose the match 29-20, and it's not difficult to imagine the Warriors would have fared better were it not for the fact they were demoted to 14 players for the second period.
Winner: Fiji Sevens
5 of 5Reigning world sevens champions Fiji got their 2015-16 series off to a thrilling start this weekend after defeating England 28-17 in the Dubai Sevens cup final to claim victory at the first hurdle.
Former England coach Ben Ryan continues to dish former side England misery as the Flying Fijians got their new season off to a booming start, and this marked his fourth Dubai title in the space of six years.
After a slow start, Fiji scored 28 unanswered points before the interval to blow England away, setting their campaign off on the right track with silverware already in the bag.
