Norwich vs. Arsenal: Arsene Wenger Talks Alexis Sanchez and More in Presser

Rory MarsdenNov 26, 2015

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed star forward Alexis Sanchez is struggling with a slight hamstring problem ahead of the Gunners' Premier League clash with Norwich City at Carrow Road on Sunday.

The Chilean netted twice in Arsenal's 3-0 Champions League win over Dinamo Zagreb midweek and could be vital against the Canaries as the north London outfit look to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion last time out in the league.

While Wenger revealed Sanchez is struggling a little following the Zagreb match, he still expects him to be fit for the weekend, per the Mirror's John Cross:

Sanchez is arguably Arsenal's most important player and there had previously been reports that Wenger might give him some time out to avoid injury later in the season, per Bleacher Report's Dean Jones:

However, following the slip-up against West Brom, Wenger will be eager to field his strongest team against Norwich so as to keep pace with Manchester United, Manchester City and Leicester City in the Premier League's top four.

In order to mount a significant title challenge, Wenger may have to do some business in the upcoming transfer window.

He said he is prepared to make some moves for the right kind of player, per Arsenal's official Twitter feed:

The No. 1 priority is undoubtedly to bring in a new defensive midfielder after Francis Coquelin picked up an injury against West Brom which is set to keep him out of action for three months, per Reuters' Ken Ferris (via MailOnline).

With top-of-the table Leicester facing second-placed United on Saturday, Arsenal can make gains on one or both of them with a victory against Norwich.

Only two points currently separate the top four, and Wenger insisted no team can be ruled out of the title race, even defending champions Chelsea, who currently lie in 15th, per Cross:

"You cannot rule [Leicester] out," said the Frenchman. "Mathematically you cannot rule anyone out. It’s a big opportunity for us."

Wenger also revealed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be available to play against Norwich having been absent through injury for the last month, but Theo Walcott still has some way to go, per PA Sport's Mark Bryans:

The return of Oxlade-Chamberlain would be a big boost for Wenger as it would give him more options in attack.

Norwich have won just once in their last eight Premier League matches, and thus Arsenal must be considered heavy favourites to claim all three points on Sunday.

However, the Gunners must be organised and eager from the off, because anything other than a victory will see them slip further back from the league leaders in the title race.
