Carson Palmer, J.J. Nelson, John Brown Post-Week 11 Fantasy Advice

Mike NorrisNov 22, 2015

The Arizona Cardinals proved once again they have one of the NFL's top offenses with their 34-31 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.

Quarterback Carson Palmer had one of his best games of the season in the win:

Palmer passed Tom Brady, who will play the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football, for the NFL lead in passing touchdowns with 27 and trails only Philip Rivers for the lead in passing yards with 3,066.

Palmer remains a must-start in all fantasy leagues, regardless of his opponent. Even when he's not at the top of his game, he still puts up good fantasy numbers. In the two games during which he was held under 200 yards in 2015, he combined to throw seven touchdowns with just one interception.

He has a dream matchup in Week 12 against a San Francisco 49ers pass defense that ranks 29th in the league, allowing 280.6 yards per game heading into Week 11.

Any wide receiver who is catching passes from Palmer at this point is worth a start, but don't jump on the J.J. Nelson WR1 bandwagon yet:

His numbers were incredible against the Bengals, but the rookie came into the game with three catches for 70 yards in his career. He benefited from Michael Floyd's absence (hamstring), and John Brown was also slowed down by a hamstring injury.

Larry Fitzgerald is the clear No. 1 on this team and saw 13 targets in the win. Even though Nelson had the second-most targets with six, Brown is the No. 2 guy.

Nelson has produced when given the chance and has a great Week 12 matchup, but consider him a high-end WR3 until he can prove consistency is a part of his game:

Brown saw only three targets but made the most of them, catching all three and hauling in his fourth touchdown of the season.

The second-year receiver may lose a few targets to the emerging Nelson, but his 57 targets and 40 receptions prove Palmer has thrown his way often and will continue to do so. He's on pace for 64 receptions, 968 yards and six touchdowns. Despite one catchless game in Week 10 while he was dealing with the hamstring injury, Brown has been a consistent target for Palmer.

All Cardinals pass-catchers will get a bump next week against the 49ers, and Brown will be a nice WR2 play in Week 12 as long as his hamstring does not flare up again. He should get the ball early and often, much to the delight of fantasy owners.
