WWE Survivor Series 2015 Results: Twitter Reacts to Top Stars, Moments and More

Erik BeastonNov 22, 2015

World Wrestling Entertainment presented its annual Survivor Series pay-per-view live from Atlanta Sunday night. The show was co-headlined by the quest to determine the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion and a celebration of Undertaker's 25 years with the company.

After three hours of wrestling, though, it was one moment in time that will define the extravaganza, and social media captured the real-time reaction from fans.

After carrying around the Money in the Bank briefcase for five months, Sheamus cashed in and defeated Roman Reigns to capture the most coveted prize in sports entertainment.

Twitter users also expressed their opinions on The Undertaker and Kane's win over The Wyatt Family, as well as an underwhelming Divas Championship match between challenger Paige and titleholder Charlotte.

By the end of the evening, WWE had the buzz it so desperately wanted coming into the show, but was it necessarily positive?

Let's take a look while simultaneously reliving the show's biggest stories, stars and moments.

WWE Defiant in the Face of Terror Threats

WWE acknowledged in an official statement on Saturday (h/t WrestleZone.com) that they, the F.B.I. and C.I.A were working together to ensure the safety of fans in light of potential threats made to Survivor Series by terror group ISIS.

To kick off Survivor Series, Lilian Garcia belted out a heart-felt rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, to which fans applauded both her performance and the company's defiance in the face of threats by a terror organization that has captured headlines as of late.

Some even applauded the brazen one-two-three punch of Garcia's anthem, the use of pyrotechnics to kick off the show and the risky nature of Roman Reigns arriving through the crowd.

25 Years of The Deadman

For over two decades, The Undertaker has dominated the sport of professional wrestling, becoming the greatest phenomenon in WWE history. Sunday night served as a celebration of sorts for The Deadman, who teamed with on-screen brother Kane to battle Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper in tag team competition.

While the company was very respectful in its coverage of the anniversary of The Phenom's debut, there were those on Twitter who had no problem poking a little fun at the most respected legend in WWE. More specifically, the long entrances that have been a staple of his career.

Others, including Bleacher Report's own Mike Chiari, were much more respectful as they witnessed the epic arrival of Undertaker for yet another pay-per-view main event.

COO Triple H paid ultimate respect to his peer, snapping a photo that spoke a thousands words about the admiration he has for the longtime locker room leader.

Noelle Foley, daughter of one of Undertaker's greatest foes in Mick "Mankind" Foley, used one word to describe the feeling of experiencing his awe-inspiring entrance live.

Of course, beyond the entrance and exit, there was not much to the actual in-ring match between The Brothers of Destruction and The Wyatt Family.

Except, that is, for the questionable use of Bray Wyatt.

Ring of Honor commentator and former ECW champion Steve Corino summed up the entire ordeal nicely.

Xavier Woods' Hair and More New Day Awesomeness

The New Day was once again a highlight of a WWE product as they teamed with Sheamus and King Barrett to battle Ryback, The Usos and The Lucha Dragons.

Stealing the spotlight was Xavier Woods, who channeled his inner James Brown by breaking out a hairdo not seen since the days of 1950's pop. Twitter had a little fun at the expense of the former NXT star.

The traditional Survivor Series tag bout was little more than a showcase for the WWE tag team champions, who had way too much fun alongside the 2015 King of the Ring.

Even Sheamus (more on him in a moment) got in on the good times.

While it was a largely forgettable match, it provided fans with an excuse to let their guard down and enjoy themselves.

The WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament

The big selling point of this year's Survivor Series was the tournament to crown a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Roman Reigns and Alberto Del Rio kicked off the show, and almost immediately the rich history of the two families involved became apparent, thanks to one attentive Tweeter.

The juggernaut and the United States champion wrestled a fantastic match to start the show, with Del Rio working the arm of his opponent. Mike Chiari foreshadowed the events that would unfold later in the show.

The fandoms of Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens, the two Superstars involved in the night's other semifinal match, were the subject of a highly entertaining Tweet by Bleacher Report's own Big Nasty.

Fans and wrestlers alike appreciated the sarcastic "Chin Lock City" reference by Owens, as referenced by current NXT Diva Alexa Bliss.

The finals of the tournament brought together two men who had been firmly established as friends, brothers even, in Reigns and Ambrose. With the WWE title at stake, all prior relationships were abolished for one match, as summed up perfectly by our friends at WrestleZone.com.

Despite Reigns' victory over Ambrose and the culmination of a life-long journey, his celebration was cut short by Sheamus, who cashed in Money in the Bank and captured the WWE World Heavyweight Championship as the show went off the air.

He wasted little time taking to Twitter to brag about his win.

His win, and the booking leading to it, was not praised by all, including this writer.

Odds and Ends

Tyler Breeze defeated Dolph Ziggler in a match that never really got out of neutral, as pointed out by Mike Chiari.

The match was a steep departure from Ziggler's night at the same event a year ago.

The Divas Championship match between Charlotte and Paige was the complete opposite of what the match should have been, leading to a silent and ice cold crowd, which numerous analysts pointed out on Twitter.

At the same time, the reaction to Paige suggests fans value her far more than they do the current WWE Divas champion.

The 2015 Survivor Series was a pay-per-view event WWE desperately needed to hit out of the park. Despite some strong in-ring work from all four stars involved in the tournament, a memorable arrival from Undertaker and more hilarity from The New Day, it really failed to ignite excitement in fans, as noted in NoDQ.com's exclusive poll.

With Monday Night Raw hitting the USA Network airwaves Monday at 8 p.m. ET, one has to wonder whether fans will look at Sunday's results and opt to tune in or not.
