Jesse Lingard Called Up for England vs. France Friendly Match
Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard has been called up by England boss Roy Hodgson ahead of their friendly with France at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday.
The Football Association's Jamie Bradbury confirmed the news as the youngster comes into the squad to replace club team-mate Michael Carrick and Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, who will both miss the clash due to injury.
Carrick and Vardy's absences are a blow to Hodgson, but Lingard has impressed with the Red Devils this season—producing a magnificent assist and then an equally excellent goal in his last two outings with United.

The 22-year-old has unsurprisingly drawn plaudits for his performances, such as from the Manchester Evening News' Samuel Luckhurst, while football writer Liam Canning humorously compared him to Real Madrid's Jese:
Lingard will make his senior international debut for the Three Lions if he features, having previously represented them at under-17 and under-21 level.
He isn't likely to start the showpiece friendly as England look to bounce back after their 2-0 defeat to Spain on Friday, but he could well make a substitute appearance.
If he is brought on, the youngster will serve as an injection of creativity as he will no doubt look to get forward and create chances for the Three Lions.
