Ohio State QB Cardale Jones Shows Support for Paris with Symbol on Cleats
Ohio State quarterback Jones is doing what he can to show his support for Paris in the wake of Friday's tragic attacks.
For the Buckeyes' game against Illinois on Saturday, Jones will be displaying a special symbol on his cleats to pay tribute to Paris. Artist Jean created and posted the Eiffel Tower peace sign symbol on social media not long after the attacks.
Update from Monday, Nov. 16
Jones took to Twitter on Monday morning to perhaps see if the NCAA would allow him to auction off his cleats in order to support Paris:
Note: The tweet was deleted shortly after it was sent out.
Given the situation, this isn't the time for any "He gone to college to play school" jokes as the result of his which/wish mistake. He's just trying to be a good guy and help out.
It's unknown whether the NCAA would allow Jones to auction off his cleats. Earlier this season, running back Leonard used a interview to let everyone know that he wanted to auction off his game-worn jersey to support South Carolina flood relief efforts. The NCAA ultimately allowed him to do so, and the jersey raised more than $100,000.
