Latest on Briscoe's Playing Status and Return
Friday, Nov. 14
Briscoe is expected to play against NJIT, per Kyle Tucker of the Courier-Journal.
Head coach John Calipari hinted at the possibility of Briscoe missing the season opener earlier in the week but remains optimistic the 5-star freshman will be able to go Saturday against the New Jersey Institute of Technology, per Jerry Tipton of the Lexington Herald-Leader:
Briscoe suffered the injury when bumping knees with guard Dominique Hawkins in practice this week, according to Jason Marcum of SB Nation.
Briscoe, a freshman out of Roselle Catholic High School in New Jersey, was among the many blue-chip prospects Kentucky signed to its No. 1 class, per 247Sports. Ranked as the second-best point guard in the class, Briscoe was expected to start right away.
While the Wildcats’ first two games should be cupcakes, a matchup with No. 5 Duke looms next Tuesday. They’ll assuredly need Briscoe to compete in what could be a Final Four preview.
