NASCAR at Phoenix 2015: Start Time, Ticket Info, Lineup, TV Schedule and More
One race rests between the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the finale of the Chase: Sunday's Quicken Loans Race for Heroes 500 at Phoenix International Raceway.
It's the event every driver (minus one, really) had hoped to put himself in great position for in the races prior due to the unpredictable nature of the track.
Yet here is the race before the season-ending event at Homestead, and Jeff Gordon stands alone as the lone automatic driver waltzing into the final round thanks to his win at Martinsville and one Jimmie Johnson stealing last week's checkered flag in Texas.

Drivers to Watch
Joey Logano

So it's come to this for Joey Logano.
The man who swept the last round with three checkered flags looked like the favorite, then was on the wrong end of an intentional wrecking at Martinsville that got Matt Kenseth suspended.
Few worries, though, as Logano could just return to form in Texas last weekend, right? Wrong. He blew a tire early in the race, had a radio malfunction and didn't return until he was 66 laps down before finishing 40th—all after starting fourth.
It's win-or-go-home time for Logano. He spoke with USA Today's Brant James about the situation:
"This was a must-win situation as well. If we finished second today we would be in the same boat going into Phoenix. I feel great about our chances at Phoenix. It has been a great race track for us in the past. I felt like this track was a great one for us as well. It is unfortunate that we finished how we did.
"
Logano has never won at Phoenix, so an ability to reel in No. 1 and grab an automatic bid to the final round would be quite, well, befitting of a champion.
Kevin Harvick

Just as last week was an event at a kind track for Johnson, this week it's all about Kevin Harvick.
In fact, Harvick is the guy hinted at in the intro who didn't really need to set himself up well for Phoenix—he might as well own the track considering he boasts the checkered flag there at the last four Sprint Cup events and has the most wins there of any active driver.
Talk about the perfect situation for a guy already sitting in third place. He finished eighth at Martinsville and followed it up with a third-place showing in Texas.
Despite having momentum and history on his side, it doesn't sound like Harvick enters this weekend anything close to complacent.
"There are a lot of good race car drivers and lots of circumstances that could play out to have things go wrong," he said, according to the Sports Xchange (via WISN.com). "You go there with a fresh start like you've never won there before and try to get the car dialed in."
Harvick knows a thing or two about what drivers can do with their backs against the wall. He faced an elimination situation at Dover back at the start of October and pulled off the win.
This time around, he's sitting pretty, but he knows better than to simply coast around the track Sunday.
Jeff Gordon

It's easy to brush aside Gordon thanks to his automatic bid in the first race of the round, but to do so would ignore the fact that he finished ninth last weekend in Texas, an improvement on his starting spot of 18th.
Gordon isn't one to rest on his laurels, especially in what is his farewell season. Last week, he and his team used Texas as a teaching tool for the Championship Round, according to Fox Sports' Tom Jensen:
"I thought we learned a lot this weekend. I think we certainly know that our cars are fast because our teammate won. Congrats to him. I think that's awesome he beat the No. 2 (Brad Keselowski). That is spectacular, I'm going to give him a big hug for that. At the same time I think that we were here to execute and push hard, try to win, but also to just learn what we could. I thought we learned some stuff.
"
Expect more of the same from Gordon and Co. this weekend. If last week's ninth-place showing was a learning experience, it's not hard to see Gordon in contention late while doing similar things this weekend.
Even if he was well out of the Chase running, Gordon would be one to watch given his impending retirement. The fact that he's assured a spot in the final round, though, makes Sunday all the sweeter.
