Friday Recap

Bjerregaard made the perfect start to his second round following an excellent 66 on Thursday as he claimed a birdie three on the 10th—his first hole.
He picked up another shot on the 16th, but then handed it straight back as he bogeyed the par-three 17th.
It was after the turn when the Dane really turned things on, though, as he registered birdies on the second, fourth, sixth and seventh before finishing the round as he started with a birdie three on the ninth.
The world No. 178 commented on the tough conditions after his excellent round, per the European Tour:
"It was a great round and obviously finished off with some good birdies coming in. A great birdie there on six a tough par three today. A couple of good birdies coming in. Nothing much really happened on the first nine, just played really solid. But I thought it was a good bit tougher than yesterday with the wind up. Some of the holes were playing really long.
"
Garcia continued where he left off after his brilliant first-round 64 on Thursday, picking up birdies on three, six and seven to move to 11 under.
However, a bogey four on 12 and a horror-show seven on the par-five 13th saw him finish with a frustrating 71.
Poulter had a mixed front nine and reached the turn level par for his second round, but five birdies on the back nine—including four in a row from the 13th—saw him post an excellent 68.
His run was nothing compared to American Peter Uihlein, though, whose seven birdies on the bounce from the 15th—he started on 10—resulted in an impressive round of 66. And it was so nearly eight in a row, per the European Tour:
Two-time major champion Martin Kaymer made a late move up the leaderboard as he got to six under par after birdies on 14, 15 and 16 courtesy of some excellent putting.
Justin Rose is just about in contention on five under par going into the weekend, but it was a struggle for the Englishman as he managed a lever-par round of 72:
The pack chasing Bjerregaard at the third Final Series event is full of quality and the Dane will have to maintain his brilliance through the weekend if he is to be crowned champion on Sunday.
Garcia could be the main threat as he looks in fine form despite a couple of troublesome holes on Day 2, but Jaidee, Poulter and Casey will no doubt also be snapping at Bjerregaard's heels over the weekend.
