Real Madrid Transfer News: David De Gea Release Clause Eyed, Latest Rumours

Matt JonesNov 12, 2015

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea reportedly has a £30 million release clause included in his recently signed contract that’ll pave the way for a move to Real Madrid next summer.

That’s according to Neil Custis of the Sun, who writes that despite a move to Los Blancos collapsing in the latter stages of the previous transfer window and penning a new four-year deal at Old Trafford, De Gea will still make the switch from Manchester to Madrid at the end of the current term. “Real are ready to return for their No. 1 target,” he writes.

For United fans, interest in the goalkeeper from Real will not come as a surprise. After all, the deal came very close to being done in the previous transfer window before all parties ran out of time. De Gea, a Madrid-born Spanish international, would also surely fancy a move to the Santiago Bernabeu, despite the stature of the Red Devils.

Indeed, despite the summer saga, De Gea revealed ahead of Spain’s clash with England on Friday that he’s happy with life in Manchester, and there is no issue between himself and manager Louis van Gaal, per Custis:

"

From the first day I came back, after all that happened, he gave me a lot of confidence, told me I would play, to relax and keep doing what I had done before.

Van Gaal is a hard and strong coach, but that is what we also try to transmit out on the pitch—that aggression and that attitude the coach has.

De Gea has been in sensational form too, helping what was a ropey Red Devils defence last season become a superb one this term. As we can see courtesy of Bleacher Report UK, it’s been a while since the Spaniard was beaten between the sticks for his club:

United will know that Real will come again for De Gea and as one of the richest clubs in world football, knowing they have money to burn. So inserting a release clause into their star player’s new contract well below his market value seems a peculiar move.

Anyway, De Gea is a player contented at the moment and after the summer furore, is unlikely to push through a transfer should Real come knocking again. That’d be hugely encouraging for all those associated with the Old Trafford club, who will not want to part with the 25-year-old unless they’re in receipt of a stratospheric amount of money.

Denis Cheryshev Discusses Rafael Benitez

Real Madrid midfielder Denis Cheryshev has claimed that Los Blancos boss Rafael Benitez is not a strong communicator, as the 24-year-old continues to struggle for playing time at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“There are no conflicts with Benitez,” Cheryshev revealed, per Sport. “But it's true there's little communication.”

Despite being on the periphery of the first team, the Russian winger insisted recently that he does not regret staying in the Spanish capital this summer, per Marca (h/t Stefan Coerts of Goal).

Cheryshev was outstanding in La Liga last season during a loan spell with Villarreal, and there were plenty expecting him to scale even greater heights with Los Blancos or elsewhere in 2015-16. A summer move didn’t materialise and since then, the winger has only played 56 minutes all season in league and Champions League matches.

As noted by journalist Lucas Navarrete earlier in the campaign, it seems odd that Cheryshev wasn’t moved on given the manager's pragmatic principles:

A mid-season move is surely on the cards for the former Villarreal man after a frustrating few months. Cheryshev will feel as though all the momentum he built up during his time away on loan has been sapped and after proving he can thrive in La Liga with some dazzling displays, that he warrants a chance.

As reported by David Wright of the Daily Express, both Arsenal and Liverpool were reportedly keen on landing Cheryshev during the summer. If a club of that calibre comes in for him in January, then the winger may well want to to start up an overdue dialogue with Benitez about moving on to a new challenge.
