Gerard Pique Talks Lionel Messi, Neymar, Barcelona, Wayne Rooney and More
Barcelona star Gerard Pique believes his club and La Liga rivals Real Madrid would have "no chance" of winning the Premier League in their first season if they were to switch divisions.
Pique is part of Spain's squad primed to take on England in a friendly on Friday and the former Manchester United man still clearly has a great deal of respect for the Premier League.
He believes that it would take Barca and Real's squads at least a season to adapt to the English top flight, per the Telegraph's Jason Burt:
"I think that if Barcelona or Real Madrid goes to the Premier League then the first year of playing there, there is no chance of winning it. Yes, I think so, because if you go to Stoke, or other types of teams, then it will be really tough. It’s a debate – we could spend hours on it. If Manchester United or Chelsea go to Spain then the same. No chance to win the league.
"
The centre-back won a Premier League title—and a Champions League—during his four years at Old Trafford before returning to his boyhood club, Barcelona.
He has enjoyed plenty of success since then as he has been a regular part of one of the best club sides in recent memory.
The current outfit at Barcelona—who won the treble last season—are arguably even better than the team assembled by Pep Guardiola.

Pique, 28, currently plies his trade alongside the most devastating attacking trio in the world—Neymar, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez—all of whom have their own particular talents, per Burt:
"Neymar is the best one-on-one. He is unstoppable," said Pique. "You have Leo Messi who is the most complete player in the world—he can attack, defend, he can head the ball even though he is small. And then you have Luis Suarez and his first touch in the box is fantastic."
Even with Messi absent through injury in the last few weeks, Neymar and Suarez have propelled Barcelona to the top of La Liga, per Squawka:
Barcelona's golden trio unsurprisingly make Pique's fantasy dream team. But in a more shocking inclusion, Pique also opts for former team-mate and England captain Wayne Rooney.
The former Everton man has endured a miserable spell of form in the 2015-16 campaign so far with many calling for him to be dropped from the England team, per Sun Sport:
However, Pique believes Rooney to be "one of the best English players in history," and he rates him both as a goalscorer and as a friend following their time playing together for United, per Burt:
"He’s a fantastic lad. When I was there [at United—from 2004-08] he was really young and I was really young too and he helped me a lot. He involved me in the team, helped me to learn English. He was the joker in the dressing room. I have great memories."

Spain's clash with England represents the start of preparations for the upcoming 2016 European Championship in France.
La Roja are going for a third consecutive Euros triumph, Pique having been involved in the 2012 victory.
He has achieved a huge amount in his career, but he still has some way to go, and given the quality of both Spain and Barca he will likely add to his handsome trophy haul before deciding to hang up his boots.
