WWE Rumors: Examining Latest Buzz Around John Cena, Paige and More
Survivor Series hasn't even arrived, but WrestleMania 32 rumors are already emerging, including a mouth-watering one about which legend WWE reportedly has lined up for John Cena at the event.
Any WrestleMania match with Cena in the ring is big. The potential one floating around for when WrestleMania invades AT&T Stadium next April is massive.
But as a recent Paige interview reminds us, don't take rumors as fact. What leaks to the media from behind the curtain isn't always reliable. The former Divas champ shot down a story about her relationship with WWE higher-ups.

Other stories dig into what the company's original plans for Survivor Series were before Seth Rollins tore up his knee and the roles for several NXT trainers. The latest batch of WWE rumors has plenty of plausible items, along with Paige's claim that one about her isn't true at all.
Original Survivor Series Plans
Roman Reigns knocked off Big Show on Monday's Raw to make into the second round of the WWE title tournament. He is just three wins away from becoming champion.
Before Rollins got hurt, he was a lot closer than that. He was set to face Rollins at Survivor Series with the gold up for grabs. And he was reportedly in line to take home that prize.
Dave Meltzer mentioned on Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Wrestling Inc) that Reigns was pegged to win the title at Survivor Series. Meltzer said that now that things have changed, he doesn't know whether WWE plans on making Reigns the winner of the tourney.
Reigns is the clear favorite even without this report. But with word of WWE being ready to crown him, there's more reason to expect him to outlast Cesaro, Dean Ambrose and company.
Ambrose is the same amount of wins from world title glory as Reigns, though. If he ends up winning the title, it will mark a major upgrade over what WWE originally had in mind for him.
According to F4WOnline (h/t Wrestling Inc), Kevin Owens and Ambrose were originally supposed to face each other at Survivor Series for the Intercontinental Championship. They are both now awaiting their second-round battle in the chase to become the next WWE world heavyweight champ.
Rollins' injury certainly opens the door for others to rise. WWE would be wise to throw its fanbase a curveball and have someone upset Reigns, but that's not a scenario worth betting on.
Backstage Word on NXT Reality Show
The Breaking Ground reality series, the look at NXT stars trying to climb up the ladder, led to some confusion about hierarchy within the developmental brand. The show mentioned that William Regal ran the promo classes. And Sara Del Rey worked with prospects on the show despite getting a behind-the-scenes spot on the main roster.
A report from PWInsider (h/t PWMania.com) helps clear things up.
Ryan Matz, who worked closely with Dusty Rhodes, runs the promo part of training. Regal only does it from time to time.
Sarah Stock (formerly of CMLL and TNA) is working with the women at Performance Center. Del Rey still trains at NXT sometimes but is also working with the main roster as an agent.
The lack of juiciness here is counterbalanced by it being a reliable story. While there is sometimes confusion about WWE's reported plans or who is supposed to be in the company's doghouse, who has what responsibilities is refreshingly straight-forward business.
Paige Refutes Rumors
A clean submission loss to Natalya had the Internet rumbling about what was going on with Paige. Many wondered if this was punishment for dropping a live F-bomb (brief NSFW language) during a Facebook Q&A sessions.
That led to several speculation-heavy reports, like this one from Daily Wrestling News, about her potentially having heat with WWE officials because of this incident.
In an interview with talkSPORT, Paige rejects the idea completely. She said, "There was no fallout, there was no nothing. You know how the internet goes—they take something and make it huge. They don't know nothin'!"
Before one wonders if she's telling the truth, think of the opportunities WWE has afforded her after that verbal slip-up. She's appeared on Conan and has a Divas Championship match set for Survivor Series.
There is a long line of wrestlers that would kill for that kind of "punishment."
Her F-bomb incident wasn't high profile enough to warrant anything more than a stern warning. If she starts doing that on Raw instead, the situation will change in a hurry.
WrestleMania 32 Headliner?
Thanks to injuries, WWE likely won't have Rollins or Randy Orton to plug into the WrestleMania card come April. It may not have The Rock, and there's a 99.9 percent chance that Steve Austin won't be wrestling either. Still, WWE has one powerful ace up its sleeve.
PWInsider reports (h/t Wrestle Zone) that WWE is planning on pitting Cena against Undertaker at WrestleMania 32.
Plans certainly change over time, but that's a smart booking choice to roll with. That's a massive match, one that will help WWE fill AT&T Stadium.
If that's the bout WWE wants, it means we should expect The Deadman's feud with Bray Wyatt to not go on that much longer. And The Eater of Worlds certainly won't be sending Undertaker off into the sunset if the future Hall of Famer has this marquee showdown ahead of him.
Undertaker vs. Cena makes a ton of sense and is the kind of legend-against-legend matchup that writes itself. Where WWE finds a spot for Reigns and Wyatt is more of a mystery, something that will certainly be the subject of rumors moving forward.
