Real Madrid Transfer News: Cristiano Ronaldo Comments 'Annoy' Club, Top Rumours

Gianni VerschuerenNov 7, 2015

Real Madrid are reportedly not happy with a series of comments star player Cristiano Ronaldo has made in the past week, specifically his insinuations he would be open to a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, according to Sport's Alejandro Alcazar.

According to the report, Los Blancos president Florentino Perez has already broached the subject with Ronaldo:

"

He told FHM that he wouldn’t rule out playing in other leagues, while Le Parisien have reported that he told Laurent Blanc he would like to work with him after Madrid’s win over Paris Saint-Germain in midweek — he was pictured whispering something to the French coach.

His quotes, which have created a wave of speculation and rumours, have become an annoying subject for Madrid.

Even Florentino Perez has deciding to get involved with his star player. In the build up to the Champions League game with PSG, he was captured by television cameras asking the 30-year-old about other comments which had been made to BILD about not ruling out playing for another club than Los Blancos.

While some fans will be quick to point to Sport as a Catalan-based newspaper, news outlets from Madrid have also raised questions about the comments. Marca didn't hide its feelings, via football blogger Jonas Giaever:

Even Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez told journalists he couldn't guarantee the Portugal international would still be with the club next season, via Goal's Peter McVitie.

Ronaldo has been with the La Liga giants since 2009 and has become one of the club's most iconic figures, breaking the all-time scoring record set by Raul, per Eduardo Alvarez of ESPN FC. As one of the best players of his generation, he's of vital importance to Real, both from a sporting and marketing point of view.

The relationship has been extremely beneficial to Ronaldo as an individual, as he has won two of his Ballon d'Ors in the iconic white kit, but the amount of silverware the team has won since his arrival has been surprisingly slim. Since 2009, Los Blancos have won just one La Liga title, one Champions League and two Copa del Reys.

That's far too little for a team of Real's stature, and it stands in stark contrast with Barcelona and rival Lionel Messi who have thrived in the last couple of seasons.

Perhaps Ronaldo feels it's time for a new challenge, although one has to wonder whether his chances at winning another Champions League title would be greater in the French capital. PSG are virtual locks to win the Ligue 1 title every year, but they've yet to do any real damage in Europe and don't boast the ridiculous depth Los Blancos have in their squad.

All of this is contingent on Ronaldo actually considering a transfer, however. As one of the world's best players, he's routinely linked with a host of clubs, and all of that speculation has yet to lead to an actual move away from Madrid.

If Ronaldo feels like his time in Madrid is up, now would be the time to force a move. He has broken Raul's record and is still in his prime, giving him the chance to make his mark somewhere else before the inevitable decline sets in. But until the star forward confirms he wants to leave Los Blancos, one has to assume he'll be staying in Madrid for the foreseeable future.
