Tottenham vs. Anderlecht: Team News, Predicted Lineups, Live Stream, TV Info

Tottenham Hotspur's Europa League progress goes on the line on Thursday evening when Anderlecht arrive at White Hart Lane.

Spurs currently sit third in Group J, behind the visitors on head-to-head record.

In October's reverse fixture, Tottenham gave their worst performance of the season.

Surrendering a lead that would have seen them on top of the group and within reach of qualification was an underwhelming outcome.

One year ago, Anderlecht fought out a 3-3 draw with Arsenal and will be hoping for similar heroics upon their return to the English capital.

Anderlecht surprised Spurs with their pacy counters and frustrated them by defending effectively.

Had Tottenham managed to win in Belgium, they would have effectively knocked Anderlecht out.

Mauricio Pochettino described himself as "angry, frustrated, disappointed" to BBC Sport after the match.

Now, Thursday's game has acquired great significance.

With a north London derby looming, Spurs would have preferred a less meaningful European fixture.

Having beaten Aston Villa on Monday and now hosting Anderlecht before the trip to face Arsenal on Sunday, this is the busiest week of Tottenham's season so far.

Mercifully, Spurs are only travelling five miles across the three matches.

Team News

The headline team news for Tottenham ahead of this match is the return of Son Heung-Min, reported by the club's official site.

The South Korean made an excellent start to his Spurs career but has missed more than a month with a foot injury.

Nabil Bentaleb is also back in action but unlikely to be risked on Thursday. Pochettino hinted that Danny Rose, who has a dead leg, would probably miss the Europa League fixture too.

Dennis Praet and Ivan Obradovic started in Anderlecht's victory in October but both will miss the return match through buttock and knee injuries respectively, as shown on Transfermarkt

Those injuries make it difficult to predict how Spurs' opposition will assemble. Bram Nuytinck could be in line for a recall to the team.

Predicted Lineups

Spurs

Hugo Lloris; Kieran Trippier, Kevin Wimmer, Toby Alderweireld, Ben Davies; Ryan Mason, Eric Dier, Erik Lamela, Mousa Dembele, Christian Eriksen; Harry Kane.

Anderlecht

Silvio Proto; Frank Acheampong, Olivier Deschacht, Guillaume Gillet, Anthony Vanden Borre; Leander Dendoncker, Steven Defour, Youri Tielemans, Ibrahima Conte; Stefano Okaka, Imoh Ezekiel.

Players to Watch

Spurs' returning forward, Son, is the man to watch from the hosts' perspective.

He rapidly formed an exciting partnership with Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli.

Despite the absence of Son and Nacer Chadli through injury in recent weeks, Spurs' attack has been effective, but Son's return adds crucial variety.

Leander Dendoncker and Youri Tielemans were key to Anderlecht's surprise victory in October and could be the main men again at White Hart Lane.

It seems the man to watch, though, is Stefano Okaka.

The journeyman striker appears to have finally found a home in  Belgium as a replacement for the summer departure of Aleksandar Mitrovic. He terrorised Spurs in the first meeting and has all the right qualities to do it again in London.

Key Battle

In the reverse fixture, Spurs dominated through the middle, but it was Anderlecht's strike power out wide that proved decisive.

The battle between the visitors' wide men and Tottenham's full-backs is key.

Kieran Trippier is yet to prove himself with a decisive defensive display. He has been exposed on occasion but should have learned from his chastening experience in Brussels.

Defensive specialist Ben Davies also needs to show his best after an inconsistent start to the season.

Frank Acheampong and Imoh Ezekiel have the pace and aggression to terrorise Spurs' defence in wide areas with Tielemans and Dendoncker pulling the strings.

Odds

With Spurs' improving form, bookmakers have slashed their odds in this match. They're 7-10 to win with Anderlecht long odds at 5-1, per Oddschecker.

Okaka, Anderlecht's match-winner in the previous fixture, is around 4-1 to score anytime in this one. That bet provides some value given his impressive display last time out.
