Laurent Blanc Comments on Cristiano Ronaldo Chat After Real Madrid vs. PSG Match

Rory MarsdenNov 4, 2015

Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc decided against revealing what Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo whispered to him following the Ligue 1 side's 1-0 loss to Los Blancos at the Bernabeu on Tuesday.

Ronaldo and Blanc engaged in a brief conversation following the final whistle in Madrid, prompting wild speculation over what was said given the forward's previous links to PSG, per Jason Burt of the Sunday Telegraph#66 Sports showed the conversation:

In an unsurprising turn of events, Blanc refused to reveal the contents of the exchange when he spoke to the media after his side's Champions League Group A defeat, per ESPN.co.uk:

"Ronaldo told me certain things, yes," he said. "But as you might suspect, I won't say what it was. It was very complimentary anyway. I won't say any more about it."

Ronaldo indicated ahead of Tuesday's match that he may be open to a move away from the Bernabeu in an interview with German magazine Kicker (via Spanish outlet Marca).

His current contract at Madrid expires in 2018, but he has been widely linked with a potential move before then to PSG or former club Manchester United, per Marc Williams in the Daily Star.

The 30-year-old was distinctly average against PSG, per football writer Jonathan Johnson:

But such a performance is a rarity for Ronaldo and the three-time Ballon d'Or winner unquestionably remains the most important player in Rafael Benitez's side.

The La Liga giants will not want to see Ronaldo leave before 2018 at the earliest, but the forward may be eager for a challenge elsewhere as he enters the final years of his career.

Since making the switch to the Bernabeu from United in 2009 for £80 million, Ronaldo has won a La Liga title, another Champions League crown and broken Raul's Real scoring record in a staggeringly short space of time.

He may well be attracted by the chance to become a PSG legend—his addition at the Parc des Princes would make them genuine contenders for the Champions League—while the French club certainly have the money to lure him away from Madrid.
