WWE Raw: Burning Questions to Address After November 2 Show

Erik BeastonNov 3, 2015

The November 2 episode of Raw is in the bag, and the card for the upcoming Survivor Series pay-per-view has begun to take shape.

Of course, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match is set in stone, with Roman Reigns challenging Seth Rollins. That feud took center stage during Monday's broadcast with each Superstar captaining a traditional Survivor Series in the main event.

Reigns picked up the win via disqualification, but Rollins was left standing, adding further intrigue to the championship bout on November 22.

A feud between the suspicious Jack Swagger and a Zeb Colter-backed Alberto Del Rio kicked off. The Usos returned, and The Lucha Dragons picked up a quality win over King Barrett and Sheamus.

Then there was the Divas Revolution, which, for the first time, resembled real change rather than a fancy tagline as Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks and Brie Bella fell to Paige in a Fatal 4-Way match.

For the second week in a row, WWE produced a quality show full of strong wrestling and sensible storyline progression.

But that does not mean no burning questions came out of the broadcast.

What are they, and which of your favorite Superstars and Divas do they involve?

Let's take a look.

1. Better Team to Challenge The New Day at Survivor Series: The Usos or Lucha Dragons?

One of the biggest buzz-worthy moments from Raw was the return of The Usos in the main event as part of Team Reigns, and rightfully so. Prior to Jey's injury in March, he and his twin brother Jimmy were the best team in wrestling. They were always in the heart of the tag title race, thanks to their perpetual popularity.

As they return to action, though, they find a tag team division different than it was when they left.

Not only is The New Day a heel faction, but Kofi Kingston and Big E are the tag champions. More importantly, the duo of Sin Cara and Kalisto is surging at the right time, having picked up a big win over King Barrett and Sheamus on Raw, and is poised to become the top contender to the gold.

So are the Usos or Lucha Dragons better suited to challenge New Day at this point?

The answer, surprisingly, is the Lucha Dragons.

Rushing the Usos back into the title picture could well create a schism between them and the vocal portion of the audience who believes talent should earn their opportunities rather than live off past accomplishments and status on the roster.

Meanwhile, Sin Cara and Kalisto have picked up a few quality wins in recent weeks and now find themselves poised to make noise in a tag team division they should have been featured in from the minute they arrived on the main roster.

Give the Dragons the opportunity at Survivor Series and then reintroduce the Usos into the title picture in time for TLC.

2. What Was the Purpose of Cesaro vs. The Miz?

When Cesaro hit the ring to do battle with The Miz, it felt like an excuse to showcase the Swiss Superman as a potential member of Team Reigns later in the night. But as fans found out some two hours later, that was not the intention. Instead, it seems the match existed solely to give Cesaro a victory in hopes of maintaining some of his momentum.

The problem with that line of thinking is that The Miz has been beaten, humiliated and devalued over the last year to the point that he has no real credibility left. Thus, booking Cesaro to beat him means nothing because of the lack of legitimacy his opponent possesses at this point.

Their match is a great example of the problems facing WWE Creative. WWE has such a wealth of talent on the roster right now and has done such a poor job of utilizing it that it is forced to throw meaningless matches onto the premier wrestling show.

Cesaro vs. Miz belonged nowhere near Raw. The contest could have been used better for a match or feud that has long-lasting effects on the product. Instead, it shined a bright light on a major flaw within the company, and that is never a positive.

3. Is WWE Risking Overexposure By Constantly Putting Paige in the Divas Title Hunt?

With a starring role on Total Divas, her own merchandise line on WWEShop.com and considerable popularity, it should be of no great surprise to anyone that Paige is heavily featured on Raw and SmackDown. If that is not enough, she is also one of the more skilled workers on the Divas roster and possesses some strong microphone talent.

But the possibility of overexposure and burnout with any given star is a very real possibility, especially with the ungodly amount of television WWE produces every week.

From the moment that Paige debuted on the main roster in April 2014, she has hung around the Divas title picture almost nonstop. She has always been a factor in the determining of the championship.

With a wealth of talent on the Divas roster, including the likes of Becky Lynch, Natalya, Sasha Banks and Naomi, perhaps it would have been better for Paige to lose Monday night, engage Lynch in a side program and allow someone such as Banks to work Charlotte at Survivor Series.

That allows two fresh and interesting programs to unfold on television without risking overexposing Paige in the title hunt.

Then, at TLC, WWE could book the Paige-Charlotte match rather than predictably rush it in time for November 22.

Of the 20 pay-per-view events she has been an active part of the main roster for, Paige has competed for the Divas title 11 times. That is a staggering statistic that would better suit someone such as John Cena or Randy Orton.

To protect her from the sort of backlash those two face from "smart" fans, it's imperative to alter the way she is booked—something that should have started on Raw Monday night.
