Tyson Fury Comments on Retirement Ahead of Fight vs. Wladimir Klitschko
Tyson Fury has indicated that he may choose to retire after his hotly anticipated title fight with WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko on November 28.
The undefeated 27-year-old has suggested he may not have the motivation to continue fighting after he has had his shot at the Ukrainian champion in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Fury (24-0) said that 39-year-old Klitschko (64-3) could also lack drive when the pair meet as the latter has dominated the heavyweight division for so long, and the Brit will look to exploit that in the ring, per BBC Sport:
"After this fight I won't have anything else to achieve and I'm on to a new part of my life. If I've not got the motivation to carry on anymore then what would be the point?
He's got tons of money, he's been successful for 11 years as a champion. What more does a man need? That's what's going to let him down on the night. But you've got to give him credit where credit is due because to take on a young, ambitious guy like myself who's taller, bigger, faster, younger is a challenge in itself.
"
The title clash was initially scheduled for October but was postponed after Klitschko suffered a calf injury.
Fury has spent much of the pre-fight build-up taunting his auspicious opponent, recently labelling him a robot and vowing to save the heavyweight division by beating him, per Sky Sports' The Gloves Are Off.
The self-proclaimed Gypsy King has already spent time in retirement, vowing to never fight again back in 2013:
Given that he has since returned to the ring and earned his shot at Klitschko, his latest proclamation does not hold an enormous amount of weight.
Fury admitted, per BBC Sport, that he could be open to a fight with compatriot Anthony Joshua following the Klitschko fight, a clash likely to draw the interest of many British boxing fans.
He will undoubtedly make a firm decision on his future depending on the outcome of his clash with Klitschko.
