New York Marathon Results 2015: Winners and Finishing Times
One of the premier marathons in the world takes place today, with 50,000 runners plus participating in the world-famous New York City Marathon. Not surprisingly, Kenyan runners dominated the field, with Stanley Biwott and Mary Keitany winning the men's and women's titles respectively for the African nation.
As this tweet from Runner's World notes, it was a back-to-back win for Keitany on this course:
On the men's side, Biwott ran close almost all day against a fast pack of runners, before pulling away in the final portion of the race and out-racing Geofferey Kamworor, 2:10:34 to 2:10:38. Lelisa Desisa was third at 2:12:10.

It was a record-breaking day for Meb Keflezighi. At 40, he broke the 25-year-old New York Marathon Master's record and also set a new mark for American masters. According to Runningcompetitor.com, his time of 2:13:32 broke both John Campbell's 2:14:34 in NYC and Mbarak Hussein's overall American mark of 2:13:32.
Runner's World tweeted their recognition of Keflezighi's latest accomplishment:
Since turning 40, Keflezighi has been on a victory march through the Masters' record book, setting the new American marks for the 15K, 10 Mile, 20K and Half-Marathon races (per Running World).
The record-breaking time was good for a seventh-place finish overall and made Keflezighi the first American finisher.
While women's champion Keitany truly thrives at the half-marathon distance, where she has held the world record previously, her 2:24:25 was more than a minute ahead of runner-up Aselefech Mergia of Ethiopia.
