Jeff Ayres, Jimmer Fredette and Perry Jones III are among those who hope to revive their NBA dreams after getting selected with the top three picks in the first round of the 2015 NBA D-League draft.

The Idaho Stampede made Ayres the first overall pick, adding the 28-year-old power forward to their squad. You can view the full first-round results below:

Ayres last played for the San Antonio Spurs, making 51 appearances in the 2014-15 season. In 220 career NBA games, he averaged three points and 2.8 rebounds a night.

Although Ayres could play his way back onto an NBA roster, it's unlikely to be with the Stampede's NBA affiliate, the Utah Jazz. The Jazz have a strong young frontcourt with Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors, and Trey Lyles will likely play a big role for the franchise as well after going 12th overall in the 2015 NBA draft.

For Fredette and Jones, the D-League is an opportunity to get their careers back on track after producing marginal NBA returns to date. They're both former first-round draft picks but have combined to start 28 games.

Fredette has been particularly disappointing, bouncing around with four teams since entering the league in 2011. He has struggled defensively, which has far outweighed his offensive contributions.

Still, the 26-year-old has shot 41.2 percent from the field in the NBA, and a 38.1 percent clip from three-point range isn't bad on its own, either.

CBS Sports' Sam Vecenie believes at least one fanbase could be itching for Fredette's return in due time:

If Fredette had landed with the New York Knicks' D-League affiliate this time last year, you could've easily seen him get called up in relatively short order. The Knicks were a train wreck last year and handed 20-plus starts apiece to Shane Larkin, Quincy Acy and Andrea Bargnani.

This year, head coach Derek Fisher has a much deeper roster at his disposal, especially with Carmelo Anthony healthy.

While the Knicks don't look to be a good fit for Fredette right now, seeing an NBA team take a flier on him this year wouldn't be a big surprise.

At only 24 years old, Jones is also likely to get at least one more chance to revive his NBA career. He failed to break through with the Oklahoma City Thunder, struggling to earn playing time behind Kevin Durant and Serge Ibaka.

As Daily Thunder's Josh Kopelman noted, Jones has suffered quite the reversal of fortunes within the last year:

The Thunder dealt Jones to the Boston Celtics before the season, but the Celtics had a wealth of frontcourt options already, leaving Jones once again on the outside looking in.

Getting more playing time on a regular basis, even in the D-League, might be just the thing for Jones to find his touch in the paint. While not an electrifying scorer with Baylor, Jones is much better than what he has shown so far in the NBAโ€”42 percent from the field and 3.4 points a game.
