Friday Recap
Atletico spurned the chance to temporarily top La Liga as they surrendered the lead against a well-organised Deportivo side.
An error by Atletico's Jose Gimenez gave the hosts the lifeline late in the game as Simeone's men threw away the win.
The first half was evenly contested before Tiago's electric strike gave the visitors the lead. The midfielder struck from distance with a half-volley to take a 1-0 advantage into half-time, with Depor licking their wounds as they trudged down the tunnel.

The home team improved in the second half and played on the front foot as Atleti tried to consolidate in defence.
Depor's pressure finally paid off with only 13 minutes remaining as Lucas chased down Gimenez, forcing the young defender to make a mistake as he tried to usher the ball out of play.
Lucas punished the inexperienced Uruguay international as he collected the ball and buried it past the helpless Jan Oblak.
ESPN's Dermot Corrigan highlighted the striker's well-taken effort to earn the point:

Simeone tried to roll the dice late in the match, bringing on Fernando Torres for Tiago, but it was too late for the visitors to grab the win after it appeared they would climb to the summit of the table.
Corrigan summed up the story of the match, as both sides were punished for negative thinking:

Despite Friday's disappointment, Simeone will feel secure as his team continue to accrue points and stay close to Spain's two biggest entities.
When they attack, Atletico look as fluid as any other team in the league, but rather than search for a second goal to kill off Depor, they sat back and tried to squeeze the result.
The Atletico boss refused to blame Gimenez for gifting a point to Deportivo, making his thoughts clear after the match, per AS:
Real and Barca will get the chance to pull away from Atleti on Saturday. The Galacticos will host Las Palmas in the Spanish capital while the Blaugrana travel to Getafe in the search for maximum points.
The pair are separated by goal difference, but manager Rafael Benitez's team have a 10-goal advantage over their bitter rivals, conceding just three times this season.
