James to Miss at Least 4 Weeks

Friday, Oct. 30

The Dolphins' 2014 first-round pick will miss four to six weeks after suffering an injury to his left big toe, per Andrew Abramson of the Palm Beach Post.

Interim head coach Dan Campbell said while there's no official timeframe for James' return, his chances of playing next week don't look good, per James Walker of ESPN.

James headed to the locker room toward the end of the first half, and offensive lineman Jason Fox took over at the right tackle spot for the final 30 minutes.

Fox didn't have a great second half while filling in for James, and the folks at CBS4 Miami summed up Fox's performance in the best way they could:

It's already been a rough day for Miami. The Dolphins lost star pass-rusher Cameron Wake to a season-ending Achilles injury, per NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, and the loss of James is going to be a tough blow for quarterback Ryan Tannehill and the Dolphins offense.

Since Dan Campbell became Miami's interim head coach, the Dolphins have been able to run the ball better than any other team in the league. The Dolphins averaged 214 rushing yards per contest heading into Thursday's tilt, but running back Lamar Miller had only 15 yards on nine carries against the defending Super Bowl champions.

James' absence is going to be a huge blow to the run game if Thursday night was any indication. The Dolphins still have Mike Pouncey and Branden Albert to anchor the line, but Tannehill has already been sacked 21 times this season.
