Gianni VerschuerenOct 25, 2015

Manchester City regained the top position in the Premier League standings after a goalless draw with rivals Manchester United on Sunday, while Tottenham Hotspur didn't hold back in Week 10, putting five goals past Bournemouth.

Harry Kane scored his first hat-trick of the season in the 5-1 win, after Matt Ritchie had given the hosts a shock lead in the first minute. Liverpool failed to win their third match under Jurgen Klopp, playing out a 1-1 draw with Southampton.

Here's a look at the full results from Week 10:

Recap

Sunday's big derby was hardly an instant classic, as United and City served up a drab encounter that never deserved a winner. It took 82 minutes for the first shot on target, and the 0-0 final score didn't come as a huge surprise to those who sat through the first half.

Jesse Lingard had a unique opportunity to win the match five minutes before the end, smashing a volley against the crossbar. Chris Smalling also came close, but a fine save from Joe Hart made sure the Citizens would leave Old Trafford with a point.

City showed little in terms of creativity, and the Manchester Evening News' Stuart Brennan blames the absence of Sergio Aguero and David Silva:

"

In the end, after United failed to provide any real goal threat, Joe Hart had to come up with the one moment of true goalkeeping quality to preserve a point from Chris Smalling’s shot. But the draw puts City back on top of the table on goal difference from Arsenal – which shows just how much the onus was on the Reds to make the pace.

The fact they were happy to keep the ball, and present so little threat, tells you how footballing fortunes have changed in Manchester. With David Silva a Sergio Aguero fit, the likelihood is that this would have been a very different story.

"

That's not to say both teams will be dissatisfied with the result. After the 3-0 loss against Arsenal, United needed to get some kind of result against City, just to prove they can hang with the true title contenders―they did just that on Sunday.

Meanwhile, a draw at Old Trafford is never a bad result, even for a club like City. The Premier League top spot is still theirs—they are ahead of the Gunners on goal difference.

Ritchie's early goal gave the Cherries some shock momentum against Spurs, but a hat-trick from Kane and goals from Erik Lamela and Moussa Dembele turned an ugly situation around for the visitors.

The win was vital for Spurs, who hadn't won a match since their big 4-1 win over City in September. It's no coincidence that was the final match in which Kane managed to score prior to Sunday's clash with Bournemouth, and the England international hopes his great outing on Sunday can launch a solid run, via the club's official Twitter account:

Former England international Gary Lineker never doubted he would start scoring again:

Klopp came close to winning his first match as Liverpool manager, after Christian Benteke had given the Reds the lead, but a late goal from Sadio Mane saw the Saints walk out of Anfield with a point.

The Reds pushed for a late winner, and Mane was sent off for a second bookable offence on Alberto Moreno, but no more goals would be scored at Anfield.

In Sunday's other match, Sunderland picked up their first win of the season, beating Newcastle United 3-0. Fabricio Coloccini gave away a penalty and got a straight red card for his troubles, opening the door for the Black Cats.

Adam Johnson converted, and Billy Jones and Steven Fletcher added two more goals to ensure the win.

Chelsea's misery continued on Saturday with a 2-1 loss at the hands of West Ham United. Nemanja Matic was sent off just before half-time after a bizarre sequence of events that resulted in numerous cards and manager Jose Mourinho ending up in the stands.

As shared by Sky Sports, the Blues' early season form has been dreadful:

Mauro Zarate and Andy Carroll scored for the hosts, whose sensational start to the 2015-16 season continues. After 10 matches, they sit in third place, leading the Red Devils on goal difference.

Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny scored for Arsenal in their 2-1 win over Everton, which momentarily moved the Gunners to the top of the standings. Ross Barkley reduced the deficit to a single goal just before half-time, but Arsenal were never truly troubled in the second half.

Tim Sherwood's tenure with Aston Villa came to an end on Sunday, one day after Aston Villa gave up a last-minute goal to Swansea City's Andre Ayew, resulting in a 2-1 loss. BT Sport's Ian Darke doesn't think things will change for Villa, regardless of the new manager:

Jamie Vardy can't stop scoring, and he was at it again on Saturday, scoring the only goal in Leicester City's 1-0 win over Crystal Palace. West Bromwich Albion beat Norwich City 1-0, and Watford impressed at Stoke City with a 2-0 win.
