NCAA Football Rankings 2015: Week 6 Polls, Top 25 Standings and Analysis
After a weekend that turned the Top 25 on its head and produced numerous surprising results, Week 6 brings the potential for more unpredictable outcomes and epic finishes.
For the second straight year in college football, the opening weekend of October served as a murderer's row for some of the nation's top teams. Upsets were the norm across the slate, and without a number of close-call survival tests, there could have been many more.
It all sets the tone for the rest of the season, as teams get fully entrenched in their conference schedules and begin proving their worth for bowl placement—or more, in some cases.
Here's a look at the latest Top 25 standings.
Let's start at the top, shall we?
The Ohio State Buckeyes struggled again Saturday in what looked to be one of their easier Big Ten road contests of the year, beating Indiana 34-27. After putting the game away, the Hoosiers battled back to have a goal-line shot to tie the game and force overtime.
Slowly but surely, these Buckeyes are becoming the Florida State Seminoles of last year—the team that seemingly has such a huge bull's-eye on its back that it can hardly walk. While all of the talent is undeniably there, things aren't clicking and Urban Meyer has little time to get it figured out.

Also joining Ohio State in the ugly-win department is Michigan State, who had to scrap and claw its way past Purdue in a 24-21 affair. If there's one saving grace for the Buckeyes, it was seeing the Spartans struggle in a similar fashion.
Of course, others weren't so lucky to get out of Week 5 with their unbeaten records intact.
Two of the top teams in the SEC bit the dust Saturday, beginning with No. 8 Georgia's throwaway home loss to Alabama. In what was pegged as a Bulldogs renaissance that could be the beginning of Nick Saban's end in Tuscaloosa, the Tide rolled 38-10.
As unsurprising as it was to see Alabama get back to its winning ways, the other SEC upset proved jaw-dropping as the Florida Gators absolutely demolished Ole Miss by an identical score of 38-10.
The Gators started hot and didn't look back, suffocating Chad Kelly and the Rebels attack all game long. ESPN's Paul Finebaum illustrated just how good Florida looked:
At 5-0, Florida is not the only team who has emerged from the middle of the pack in its conference to threaten for a top spot and contention for the College Football Playoff.
Also throw the Utah Utes into that mix, who are still flying high after their Week 4 drubbing of Oregon in a 42-point victory. They enjoyed a bye on Saturday and continued surging up the polls after an upset-filled weekend.
It's good to see a team that is usually pegged as an underdog going places, as Kevin McGuire of College Football Talk noted:
Utah gets its grit tested right away, as the Utes will play host to the California Golden Bears on College GameDay with the national audience watching closely. In what's a long list of tests throughout the season, the Utes will get to truly prove their worth.
That's only where the tests start this weekend, as Florida travels to Missouri and No. 6 Clemson hosts Georgia Tech after the Tigers' huge home win over Notre Dame.
Week 5 may have produced plenty of answers, but we still have a ways to go. And if the past few years are any indication, we're a long way away from knowing who's truly No. 1.
