Rugby World Cup Schedule 2015: Fixtures, Live Stream Info and Top Try-Scorers

Gianni VerschuerenOct 3, 2015

New Zealand's Julian Savea leads all try-scorers at the 2015 Rugby World Cup heading into Sunday's action, where Ireland will hope to beat Italy to keep the pressure on France for the race to the top spot in Pool D and Argentina and Tonga battle it out in Pool C with a ticket to the next round on the line.

Ireland and Argentina are the clear favourites to win Sunday's fixtures, but this year's World Cup has already seen its fair share of upsets. Tonga in particular will like their chances of upsetting the Pumas, all-but locking up second place in Pool C behind the All Blacks in the process. Here's the upcoming schedule:

For all four of the teams playing on Sunday, the 2015 Rugby World Cup has been a collective effort so far, with no side boasting a player who has scored more than two tries.

So far three players have achieved the feat for Ireland―Tommy Bowe, Keith Earls and Rob Kearney―and with a match against struggling Italy on the schedule, the Six Nations champions should be able to boost their total significantly.

The Azzurri barely squeezed past Canada, winning 23-18 in their last match, and were soundly beaten by the French in their opener. Coach Joe Schmidt isn't underestimating the Italians, however, realising they need a win to keep their bid to reach the next round alive, as reported by the Guardian's Sean Ingle:

"

I’d be delighted to get the result. It’s probably not often I say that. But if I’m talking post-game and we’ve had a two-point win I’d be delighted. Italy are very hard to break down and the longer you’ve got the ball, the less likely you are to score. Their defensive ethic, and it probably reminds me of Perpignan when Jacques [Brunel] was there as well, they were intolerably difficult to break down and score against. And we know what they are capable of producing, especially with Parisse at the helm.

"

Sergio Parisse will return to the Italy squad just in time for this match, and as shared by the tournament's official Twitter account, his impact on the Azzurri cannot be overstated:

The 32-year-old ranks among the top No. 8's in the world, and as Italy's captain and leader both on and off the pitch, his return should hand the side a massive boost.

Ireland are still the obvious favourites to win this match, however. So far, they've scored an incredible 13 tries in just two matches, winning both with bonus points, and Schmidt's men clearly look like the strongest side in Pool D.

With France currently leading, the race for the top spot is expected to come down to the meeting between the two in their final group match, and both will be eager to avoid New Zealand, so Ireland can't afford a slip-up against Italy. Expect the Irish to play a focused and disciplined match, and with Parisse still working his way back to full health, a win is expected.

Sunday's other match will be the pivotal clash between Argentina and Tonga, with a ticket to the knockout stages at stake. The former bounced back from a loss against the All Blacks to put up a strong showing against Georgia, while the latter lost to that same Georgia team and currently hold a bonus-point advantage in the standings.

Tonga looked far too strong in their win over Namibia, but questions remain:

On paper, the Pumas are the stronger team, and their performances on the pitch have so far backed that up. After a shaky first half against Georgia, their scrum took over, and Argentina dominated to the tune of 40 unanswered points. Limiting penalties will be key, even if Tonga missed a whole bunch in the win over Namibia.

The winner of this match is the obvious favourite to finish Pool C in second place, even though Tonga still have to face the mighty All Blacks. The match will be the very first meeting between the Pumas and Tonga.
