Liverpool vs. Sion: Brendan Rodgers Talks Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi Rumours
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that striker Daniel Sturridge will play no part in the Reds' Europa League clash against Swiss club Sion on Thursday.
The Englishman scored a double in victory against Aston Villa at the weekend, his first Premier League goals in 266 days following long-term injury troubles, per Squawka.
Rodgers said that Sturridge is not yet back to full fitness and will thus be rested for the Anfield clash on Thursday, per the Liverpool Echo's James Pearce:

The Northern Irish manager stated that he didn't want to "break" Sturridge by making him play too much too quickly following his injury problems, per the Liverpool Echo's Joe Rimmer.
Sturridge took both his goals well against Villa in the 3-2 win, showing Liverpool just what they have been missing in his absence.
The 26-year-old's return to action is not only a big boost for Liverpool, but also for England, who have two European Championship qualifiers coming up on October 9 and 12.
Per the Times' Tony Barrett, Rodgers is happy for England manager Roy Hodgson to select Sturridge for those clashes:
However, he was eager to make it clear that Sturridge is not fit enough to play two games in four days, per Rimmer: "Not at the moment. But I don't speak for the international managers. I let them deal with them. With Daniel it's worth me noting to the FA where he's at fitness wise. I'm sure Roy and his staff are clever enough to know that."
Liverpool look set to field several fringe players for the clash against Sion, but the hosts will still be favourites to pick up a victory.
Young forward Divock Origi could well be given a run out, and Rodgers ruled out any chance of the 20-year-old Belgian departing the club on loan, per Pearce:
Origi had been recently linked with a potential loan move to Norwich City, per Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb (h/t Dan Gibbs in the Express).
But Rodgers is now clearly eager to keep him at the club after he spent last season on loan at Lille.
The Reds could only draw their opening Europa League group game 1-1 away at Bordeaux. But even without Sturridge, home advantage and a superior squad should see them prevail against Sion.
