NASCAR at New Hampshire 2015 Results: Winner, Standings, Highlights and Reaction
Matt Kenseth stole victory from Kevin Harvick's clutches Sunday in New Hampshire at the Sylvania 300 to punch his ticket to the second round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
After wrecking out of the Chase's first race and flirting with elimination territory, Harvick dominated most of Sunday's event, leading 216 laps but running out of fuel with three remaining.
Make it five wins on the season for Kenseth, as his reign of dominance continued on a disastrous day for some of the Chase's biggest names, a day filled with a gaudy number of yellow flags, a violent wreck and one controversial bit of ruling from NASCAR.

Desperation seemed to be the name of the game right out of the gates.
After crashing out last weekend and sitting near elimination territory, Harvick came speeding back and climbed his way to the lead within the first 20 laps.
As USA Today's Jeff Gluck pointed out, his car looked great amid plenty of traffic:
Plenty of traffic, though, produced the first yellow of the day when Aric Almirola went into the wall, a disappointing turn of events for a guy who finished 10th in the first race of the Chase.
NASCAR on NBC caught the aftermath:
Landon Cassill and Tony Stewart drew caution flags soon after, but as the race made its way to the 100-lap mark, it was Harvick dueling Brad Keselowski and Jimmie Johnson for first place through the traffic.
The fourth caution didn't halt things until Lap 120, when Alex Bowman found his way to a malfunctioning tire, as #TheChase captured:
One of the day's biggest stories struck shortly after when Kyle Busch caused a caution with a trip of his own into the wall. He had to take the car to the garage for repairs and didn't get back on the track until Lap 197, down a full 36 laps. After a ninth-place finish in Chicago, Busch's Chase chances took a serious hit, as he finished Sunday 37th.
Around the same time, Johnson made his exit from the top five with a flat tire en route to a sixth-place finish, an impressive rebound considering the hole he had to dig himself out of the rest of the way:
Johnson didn't incite a yellow with his struggles, but the scariest wreck of the day churned out a red flag. Danica Patrick got spun out, then slammed in a brutal collision, which #TheChase recorded:
For David Ragan, who hit Patrick, the question about the incident pertained to her brakes, per Gluck:
As a whole, the downward spiral for Chase contenders continued once things got back underway. With about 52 laps left, NASCAR hit Keselowski with a black flag for a restart violation. He ended up finishing 12th.
Call it NASCAR making an example of a big name, a warning shot proving how serious it is about restarts. Keselowski had to sit on pit road and lose his second-place slot. ESPN's Ricky Craven was one of many to decry the decision:
Observers will have to judge for themselves:
Things returned to normal down the stretch, but it was impossible to tell if Harvick saved enough fuel to fend off Denny Hamlin and Kenseth, who both appeared to be in a better position with 10 laps to go based on last-pit numbers.
With three laps left, Harvick ran out of gas and Kenseth made his move, seizing the checkered flag and joining Hamlin with an automatic bid to the next round.
When it comes to the leaderboard, Keselowski still sits around in eighth. Jeff Gordon (10) and Dale Earnhardt Jr. (12) sit dangerously close to the elimination line, while the rough days for Busch and Harvick have them among those set to be eliminated.
Kenseth and the series next head to Dover International Speedway for the final race in the Chase's Challenger Round. With the bottom four spots set to be eliminated, it's clear Sunday was just a precursor to what should be another competitive, flag-littered day as the contenders leave it all on the track.
For now, Kenseth and Hamlin sit pretty while some of the sport's biggest names prepare for a rebound.
