Twitter Reacts as Harry Kane Ends Goal Drought, Tottenham Beat Manchester City
Not many people tipped a Tottenham Hotspur victory against Manchester City in the early kick-off at the weekend, but despite falling behind, that's exactly what Spurs delivered at White Hart Lane.
City began by setting a record for the number of Argentinians:
"#MCFC are first club in #BPL history to start a match with 4 players from Argentina: Willy, Demichelis, Otamendi, Aguero @MCFC

Manchester City made light of the absence of Joe Hart, Vincent Kompany and David Silva at first—perhaps that's easier when you can call on the £55 million talent of Kevin De Bruyne:
"Robbie Savage "I wouldn't pay to watch Kevin De Bruyne" pic.twitter.com/Ss1eQHIA46
— bet365 (@bet365) September 26, 2015"
But for all De Bruyne's offensive threat, when his mistake facilitated Eric Dier's equaliser, the focus turned to some less happy statistics:
"PASS MAP: Kevin De Bruyne completed just 38% of his passes in the first half. Under par distribution. pic.twitter.com/gWKnepLQ4h

And Eric Dier's well-hit strike, which like De Bruyne's opener might well not have stood if an offside had been spotted, kick-started a collapse for City.

"Two offside positions, two goals. English officiating, everyone.

Toby Alderweireld added the second, and the third followed not long later. There was good news for Harry Kane, who finally ended his wait for a goal—again with a hint of offside—for Tottenham.
"748 - Harry Kane has ended a run of 748 minutes (12 hours, 28 mins) without a goal in all competitions for Spurs. Relief.

"Harry Kane! Unleash the memes! pic.twitter.com/tawzJhXNZv

"He's offside as well...butttttttttttt open goal gaping ...#kane pic.twitter.com/UO6eGHq1cj

And if most expected Kane to come good at some point, the same perhaps could not be said for Erik Lamela, who capped his performance with an impudent goal in the latter stages:
"Can't believe what I'm watching. Lamela deserves that goal, been brilliant today

The favourite for the league being beaten 4-1? That doesn't happen too often...
